The Premier League season has been hectic. It hasn’t been as much of a surprise as the season that went before, but it’s still been great fun. There were a lot of big wins, a lot of movements. Some eras ended, others began. Now it’s over though and it’s the turn of the FA Cup Final to bring the curtain down on the English domestic season.
This is the greatest domestic cup competition in the world. It is one that is watched by more people worldwide than any other. The FA Cup is magical. It has that special something that you just don’t get with other domestic cup competitions. Everyone wants to win the FA Cup and because of the nature of it and the way it is setup, everyone can!
The world will be watching this FA Cup final and the world will be expecting. We saw Chelsea win the league with ease and Arsenal struggle to hold onto European places. So, it’s no surprise that The Blues are the favorite. The question is, can they live up to that favorite tag and win this thing? Can they secure a domestic double, or will Arsenal finally get their hands on some silverware?
Let’s find out in this FA Cup Final betting tips article.
Before we get to the actual prediction and tell you who we think will win, let’s get some of the basics out of the way:
The full show begins at 2pm on BBC1. This is a few hours before kick-off, so there will be a lot of build-up. But that is all part of the fun for many fans and neutrals alike. You can also catch the game on BT Sport 2 and it should be shown on many TV channels across Europe and indeed all around the world. This is a game that everyone wants and one that always seems to be showing somewhere.
Wembley, of course! This is the most well known stadium in the country and one that everyone wants to play at. That is one of the best things about the FA Cup. Wembley is such a part of British football that just playing here is an honor. Fans don’t sing, “We’re going to win the cup” they sing “We’re going to Wembley”. And not without reason.
It is a day out for everyone. Visiting Wembley to watch your team play in an FA Cup Final is an honor, it is a memory that will stay with you and it’s often one of the most treasured memories that every football fan has. For many years Wembley was under construction and these games were played in Wales, but this iconic venue has been back for some time and it will be the star of the show again here.
The FA Cup Final 2017 will be played this Saturday the 27th of May at 5:50pm local time.
John Terry will likely sit this game out. He has surely played his last game for The Blues, but they have learned to play good football without him anyway. Costa should be leading the way for Chelsea and that will be the most important thing.
Fans are well aware that they may need to do without him next season. It is no secret that he might leave. But they will be happy with his contribution during the EPL season and they will be happy to have him on their side today.
Elsewhere, they have a more or less fully fit squad. The only question that Conte faces is who to play where. Clearly Kante will be playing a staring role in midfield, but will Matic or Fabregas get the nod alongside him? And what about Willian? Is there room for him, Pedro and Hazard, or will one of them be forced to drop to the bench?
The Blues have all of the confidence in the world right now. They are champions, they are riding a wave of euphoria, and they will be looking to ride it right to their second major trophy of the season. There form has been solid and they should be able to carry it into this game.
They beat Arsenal last time out, just a few months ago, and they were relatively comfortable in doing so. However, the Gunners got the better of them twice last season. They beat them 3-0 in the league in a game where Chelsea didn’t really show up. More importantly, they also beat them 1-0 at Wembley when playing in the Community Shield. That will give Arsenal hope, but is it justified?
Laurent Koscielny made a huge mistake and a very stupid one against Everton. It wasn’t a nothing game as far as the Gunners were concerned at the time, but it turned out to be one and yet he got himself sent off. There is no excusing that, because now he will miss the FA Cup Final and will leave his team in a lot of trouble.
Gabriel is also missing, this time through injury, which means there could be some gaps in the Arsenal defense. Elsewhere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be out. His speed could have been useful here, but the will be forced to do without as they have so often done this season.
The good news is that they have a relatively fit team elsewhere. But knowing their luck, the entire squad will come down with a severe case of gastroenteritis 12 hours before kick-off.
Let’s be honest, the Chelsea that began this EPL season was completely different to the one that finished it. The same can be said for Arsenal as well, who went the other way. Therefore, the teams that played early on in the season were not a reflection of the teams that will enter this game.
Still, anything can happen in 90 minutes and if Arsenal can rekindle that form and catch Chelsea on a bad day, then they could beat them. The Gunners have made a lot of bad mistakes this season and they have played some terrible football against lower ranked teams. But there have been moments of brilliance against bigger teams.
They beat Everton 3-1 last time out, they drew 2-2 with League cup winners Man City a month ago and they beat them in the semi-finals of this competition as well. Arsenal have also beaten Leicester City, Southampton and Manchester United this month.
They have been poor for most of the season. But if you focus on the first couple months and the last couple months, they have been great. It’s just a case of whether they can take that form into this game.
I think that Arsenal will take Chelsea very close. I think they will swing the odds their way at one point and will have many people thinking they will do it. However, I don’t think that they will pull through.
I am not confident in their defense. Chelsea are solid at the back and they are creative up front. Arsenal lack the ability to break teams down at times and without a couple of big players at the back, they are also very vulnerable. I am sure this will be wide open throughout and it will be anyone’s game for the most part. But when it comes down to it, it’ll only take a few clinical finishes and creative plays, and I’m sure they will be from Chelsea.
So, get your money on a win for the Blues as they secure a Premier League and FA Cup double.
