ADS vs MLR Match Prediction - Jan 12, 2020

The Melbourne Renegades have now lost eight straight matches as they struggle to find a way out of this terrible run of form they have been having. We think it is fair to say that the defending champions are all but out of the running for a place in the BBL 09 playoffs, although, theoretically they still have a chance.

They are now going to be playing against the Adelaide Strikers, a team that is right in the middle of the BBL league table right now but has lost its previous three matches in a row. On current form, these are two of the weakest sides of the Big Bash 2019-20 that are going up against each other.

Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades BBL 09 is going to be played at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on the 12th of January 2020.

ADS vs MLR Team Previews

Adelaide Strikers

The Adelaide Strikers have been one of the more interesting sides to watch this season. They have been involved in a number of very close matches, some of which have gone their way while others have not. The Adelaide Strikers have played three matches at the Adelaide Oval so far and won just one of them. For a team that has prided its dominance at home in recent seasons, this is not a good sign.

The batting has been a big problem for the Adelaide Strikers in recent matches. It is too dependent on Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey to score the bulk of the runs. Both these two players have been in good form and have 266 runs each to their name. That puts them joint fifth in the BBL run-scorer standings right now.

Jonathan Wells has played a few good innings but there is a definite lack of batting depth in the side. Thankfully, Travis Head is set to return for BBL duty in this match and boost the batting lineup. We think one of either Michael Neser or Cameron Valente will miss out in this match.

Rashid Khan has been in terrific form this season with the ball and is currently fourth on the BBL wicket-takers list with 12 scalps to his name. Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake, Harry Conway, and Michael Neser have been pretty good as well.

The bowling is not a big concern for the Adelaide Strikers and their strengthened batting could do the trick to help them turn things around.

Philip Salt, Jake Weatherald, TM Head, JW Wells, Matthew Short, Harry Nielsen, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Peter Siddle, WA Agar, Harry Conway.

Melbourne Renegades

Eight straight losses for the Melbourne Renegades have essentially ended the season for the defending champions of the Big Bash. Could they go on to their worst and the worst season in BBL history? The signs are not looking too good for the Renegades.

Mohammad Nabi is set to join the side ahead of this match and is going to be available for selection. We are sure he is going to come straight into the playing eleven and be used as an attacking batting option along with being tasked to bowl in the powerplay.

Samit Patel is the obvious candidate to go out of the side and make way for Mohammad Nabi but it could be Tom Cooper as well.

There is nothing that has been going right for the Melbourne Renegades. Their batting has been complete shambles apart from Shaun Marsh who has close to 300 runs to his name already. Marsh scored 63 runs in the previous match and was well supported by Marcus Harris who got 42.

Beau Webster has earned a promotion in the batting order through some consistent scores and should be persevered with. The lack of runs from players like Tom Cooper, Sam Harper, and Dan Christian is hurting the Renegades badly.

Samit Patel bowled well in the previous match and a couple of early wickets kept the Renegades in the game against the Stars before the Glenn Maxwell took the game away from them.

Mohammad Nabi’s addition to the bowling attack could be helpful considering that Dan Christian, Richard Gleeson, Joe Mennie, and Cameron Boyce have not been able to have much impact on the tournament so far.

Melbourne Renegades Playing 11

Shaun Marsh, Marcus Harris, Sam Harper, BJ Webster, Mohammad Nabi, TLW Cooper, DT Christian, SR Patel, JD Wildermuth, Cameron Boyce, Joe Mennie.

Pitch and Conditions

A sunny day with next to no chance of rain has been forecast in Adelaide on match day. The pitch at the Adelaide Oval is almost always good for batting and the short boundaries make defending totals a bit difficult.

We saw a low-scoring match between the two sides that played the previous match but that was not really because of the conditions. A total of about 170 should be considered as par while batting first.

ADS vs MLR Betting Tips

Neither of these two sides is in great form heading into the match but the presence of Travis Head just gives the Adelaide Strikers an edge. The Strikers are playing at home and will have a stronger batting lineup than at any previous time in the tournament. Rashid Khan is also in very good form which could make life tough for the Melbourne Renegades.

It looks like the Renegades losing streak could continue.

Bet on the Adelaide Strikers to win.
