ADSW vs HBHW Match Prediction - Oct 25, 2019

These are still early days in the ongoing Women's Big Bash League, but the table is beginning to take shape beautifully. Barring Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars, all the teams at the ladder already have a win to their name. Hobart Hurricanes, in fact, have two wins to their name and will be looking to keep marching ahead when they take on Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming game of the tournament. Adelaide Strikers have just managed to keep themselves amongst the top four teams, but a loss, in all likelihood, will knock them out of the top-four sides. The match is set to be played at the Allan Border Field, Brisbane.

Adelaide Strikers Women

The Strikers have already played a couple of games in the competition so far and they are comfortably placed at the fourth spot at the ladder with two points to their name. They had a terrific start to the tournament as they defeated Melbourne Renegades in their opening fixture. Renegades, however, defeated them in a reverse fixture and as a result, Adelaide Strikers have only a couple of points with a net run-rate of 0.729 to their name.

While they won their first match quite comfortably, they suffered a close defeat in their second fixture. Batting first on a decent surface to bat on, the Strikers managed to put 152 runs on the board, the total which appeared to be pretty good at the halfway stage.

Sophie Devine continued with her terrific form as she smashed 48 off just 30 deliveries at the top of the order, with good contributions from the likes of Suzie Bates, TM McGrath, and BE Patterson.

Their bowlers started off incredibly well in the defense of their 152-run total with Sophie Devine getting rid of Molineux on the first delivery of the second innings, but it was all flat after that. Danielle Wyatt and Tammy Beaumont didn't allow Strikers' bowlers to get back into the game until it was too late. Devine and Schutt picked up a wicket each towards the end of the innings, but it proved to be too little too late as Renegades emerged on top with one over to spare and five wickets in hand.

Hobart Hurricanes Women

The Hurricanes have been the best team of the tournament so far and their top of the table position is evidence of that. With two wins in two matches, they have four points to their name with a stupendous net run-rate of 0.818. Another win here will solidify their position at the top, which is what they'll be aiming for when they get on the field in this upcoming fixture.

The Hurricanes are the only team who are yet to lose a game in this edition of the tournament. They are coming off a couple of well-deserved wins over Melbourne Stars in two matches. In their last match, they chased down a total of 137 with reasonable ease.

Their bowlers were superb throughout the match as they kept chipping away with the wickets at the regular intervals. B Vakarewa and NJ Carey were the picks of their bowlers as they both picked up a couple of wickets each at the expense of 22 and 28 runs respectively.

It was a smallish total to chase down and shouldn't have presented as much difficulty as it did to get past. Despite the initial hiccups, however, the likes of Carey and Tyron ensured it was a smooth sail for the Hurricanes as they eventually won the match with nine balls to spare and five wickets in hand.

Women's Big Bash League is resuming after breaking for a couple of days, a break which would have done world of good for all the teams. Even though the Hurricanes had the momentum of two back to back wins behind them, the rest of the two days will do more good than harm. Comparing the two teams on paper, its hard to choose between the sides. Adelaide Strikers have more experience available at their disposal and offer a pretty good reward on their win, and they, therefore, walk in as favorites to win the upcoming encounter.
