AUS vs BAN Match Prediction - Jun 20, 2019

Australia vs Bangladesh is not a match that has ever been one that cricket fans around the world have been excited to see. After all, Australia has been one of the most dominant ODI teams in recent decades and Bangladesh has struggled to be competitive for most of its cricketing existence.

Australia vs Bangladesh ICC World Cup 2019 is different. Australia has won four out of its five matches but it had a few close calls against West Indies, Pakistan, and even Sri Lanka. Bangladesh beat South Africa comfortably and chased down 321 against West Indies with almost 10 overs to spare.

This match between Australia and Bangladesh could be very close indeed. Australia is close to cementing its place in the semi-finals while Bangladesh is also certainly in the hunt. A win here could be a big boost for both the teams.

Australia vs Bangladesh ICC World Cup 2019 is going to be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on the 20th of June 2019.

AUS vs BAN Team Previews

Australia

Australia has won four its five matches in the ICC World Cup 2019. It is second on the league table right now, separated only by net run-rate. There have been several things that have worked for Australia and its supporters will be happy to see it win consistently again. There are also a few remaining concerns which the side will want to address as soon as possible.

Aaron Finch and David Warner are a very successful opening pair and even though David Warner is playing a more watchful kind of game, the overall partnership has been very successful.

Australia’s team selection, however, continues to be a bit confusing.

Both Shaun Marsh and Usman Khawaja have been picked in the side in recent matches. Since both of these players are best in the top-3, one player has had to bat out of position. This is a problem which will take care of itself once Marcus Stoinis becomes fit again but till then it is something that can hurt Australia.

Australia has also been unable to find a place for a genuine spinner in the playing eleven. The middle overs can be predictable and good teams will be able to attack them.

So far, Mitchell Starc has been the biggest match winner for Australia. He comes into bowl whenever there is a partnership developing or Australia needs a wicket and generally delivers. Starc and Cummins will need to be careful about trying to attack the Bangladeshi batsmen with pace because that tact backfired on the West Indies.

The good batting form of Warner, Finch, Smith, and Maxwell is a big plus for Australia at Trent Bridge. This is the highest scoring ground in the world and these batsmen should be able to attack the Bangladeshi bowling.

Australia has also fielded very well in the tournament so far, a big factor in high-scoring contests. The only thing that Australia needs to be careful about is underestimating Bangladesh.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh would be full of confidence after the previous match against the West Indies and will believe it can beat Australia. All of Bangladesh’s senior players are performing and the side seems to be peaking at the right time.

Shakib Al Hasan is Bangladesh’s best ever cricketer, there is no doubt about that, but surely his place among one of the all-time great ODI all-rounders is also set in stone now. He is having the World Cup of his dreams and Bangladesh must be desperately hoping he can continue to play in that same manner.

Shakib is the highest scorer of the tournament right now with 384 runs from just four matches. He also has taken 5 wickets and is easily the most valuable player for his team. He can expect Australia to come hard at him at all stages of the match.

Bangladesh must hope to see some of the other Bangladesh players play a leading role as well. Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal have shown some flashes of good form but they need to start making big scores.

The middle order of Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Mohammadullah, and Mossadek Hossain must be aware of the threat that the Australian bowlers pose and prepare accordingly. Liton Das’s selection in the previous game was a very good move and it helps add a lot of steel to Bangladesh’s lower order.

We don’t think Bangladesh’s batting is much weaker than Australia’s. In fact, it can quite capably compete against the Australian bowlers.

The real challenge for Bangladesh is going to be in restricting the Australian batting. There are some weaknesses in the Australia batting side that Bangladesh must take advantage of. Mohammad Saifuddin, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, and Shakib AL Hasan are not a great bowling attack but they are not too bad either.

They need to be at their best and take all the chances that come their way. A Bangladesh win is certainly not out of the question here.

AUS vs BAN Dream11 Prediction

Our Dream11 team for Australia vs Bangladesh ICC World up 2019 is going to follow current form as close as possible. There are some exceptional players on both teams that have been making the cricket world cup their own and we want them in our Dream11 team! For a final updated Dream11 team, follow us on twitter (@cricketbettings) where we post a screenshot after the pitch report and toss.

Wicketkeeper: Liton Das played the inning of his life against the West Indies. he took on the short ball and showed a lot of maturity as well. He is our pick for the wicketkeeper slot ahead of Mushfiqur Rahim and Alex Carey.

Batsmen: David Warner's new way of batting may be less exciting but it is definitely more consistent. He is very good against spin and in terrific form as well. Picking him alongside Aaron Finch, the current second-highest run-getter in the World Cup, is an easy decision. We have also picked Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar in our team. They have both played some attractive innings without going on to make the big one and there is no bigger stage than this. Getting past the Australian new ball bowlers is not easy but if they can manage it, the middle overs are easy pickings.

All-rounders: Shakib Al Hasan is playing at a completely different level to everyone else. He is scoring runs, picking wickets, and taking catches. Ride this wave for as long as possible and pick him in your Dream11 team. The second all-roudner that we like is Glenn Maxwell. Australia's team selection policies have made him the lead spinner in the side and he is also used as an enforcer during the batting stint.

Bowlers: Mitchell Starc has been the biggest match-winner for Australia in this tournament. He is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament and will be very important in this match as well. Pat Cummins, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz are the other exceptional bowlers playing this match all of whom we have included in the team.

Captain and Vice-Captain: We have picked Shakib Al Hasan as captain and David Warner as vice-captain for this match.

AUS vs BAN Betting Tips

Bangladesh is not to be taken lightly in this match. Their batting is in form and they have the players to be able to beat any side on their day. The belief is there as well, something that was lacking in earlier years.

Australia has won four matches without being at its best and that is a scary thought. Its batting is strong but fallible. Mitchell Starc has been the difference between winning and losing on a couple of occasions and we think he could be the player to watch out for again.

We think it is wise to bet on Australia but punters should also hedge their bets whenever they get the chance.

Bet on Australia to win.
