AUS vs SL Match Prediction - Nov 01, 2019

Just as we predicted, Australia decimated the Sri Lankans by a massive margin. They have now taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series with two wins in back to back matches. With just one match to go before the ODI leg begins, Sri Lanka have a lot of ground to cover if they want to stand up to challenge the Aussies in the third match of the series. The third match of the series is to be played at the iconic venue of Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne on 1st November. Both the teams come into this game on the back of contrasting results and it will be interesting to see how the two sides fare in the upcoming contest.

AUS vs SL Team Previews

Australia

The only thing that didn't go right for the Aussies in the second match was their opening stand. Apart from that, the Aussies were flawless in all the three departments of the game. Although Aaron Finch was dimissed early in the chase, the team won't be worried primarily because of two reasons. One, he did brilliantly in the opening match, and two, the rest of the batsmen are doing so well that the Aussies can afford for a batsman to misfire.

While the first match was setup by their batsmen, it as bowlers' day for the Aussies in the second fixture. Billy Stanlake, who was included in place of Mitchell Starc, did exceedingly well as he picked up key Sri Lankan wickets at important junctures. The rest of the bowlers chipped in beautifully as Australians restricted tourists to just 117.

Considering the form the Aussies were in in the first match of the series, the score of 117 was never going to present any challenges whatsoever to them. It didn't prove to be any different either. Steven Smith and David Warner combined together to take them through without any further damage as they sealed the deal with nine wickets in hand and a lot of balls to spare.

Sri Lanka

Apart from winning the toss in two consective games, Sri Lanka have had nothing going their way in the series so far. Their bowlers were taken apart in the first match before their batsmen succumbed to scoreboard pressure and in the second match, their batsmen failed to put up a competitive total on the board.

Sri Lanka have now lost two matches in the series, both by heavy margins. In the second match, their batsmen could not get going as they were strangled for runs and lost two wickets for 36 runs in the first powerplay. Just when they looked set to launch a counterattack, things went south for them as most of their batsmen perished while trying to be adventurous. Eventually, they were restricted to a total of just 117, which didn't pose any problems for the hosts.

Their bowlers needed to breakthrough early and then at regular intervals and they failed in both aspects. Not only did they failed to pick up any wickets, they gave away too many runs for their spinners to make any impact whatsoever on the match. Sri Lanka have failed to show any resistance against potent Aussie side and they'd have to play out of their skins to have any chance in the upcoming encounter.

AUS vs SL Betting Tips

Its been one way traffic in the series so far. Unlike how they did against Pakistan, Sri Lanka have failed to present any obstacles to the Aussies and the hosts have cruised in both the matches. Australians are firing all cylinders and even though they are expected to experiment a bit in the upcoming fixture, they still are the stronger team between the two. The odds for an Aussie win aren't really rewarding, but considering that their win is almost certain, betting on them would be pretty safe. Australians go in as firm favorites to win the upcoming fixture.
