BAN vs AFG Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Sep 20, 2018

We are still a couple of days from the beginning of the next round in Asia Cup 2018 and the four teams have already cemented their respective places in the top four. Both Bangladesh and Afghanistan defeat the Islanders by a massive margin. They are now all set to meet each other in the sixth game of Asia Cup at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi. While this match is inconsequential as far as the next round is concerned with no points being carried forward, both the teams will still strive hard to gather the momentum before moving into the super-four stage.

BAN vs AFG Team Previews

Bangladesh

Bangladesh have been one of the most consistent teams in the ODIs this year and have won six out of nine matches they've played. They were exceptional against Sri Lanka in the opening where bowlers wrecked havoc after splendid innings by Mushfiqur Rahim. Tamim Iqbal courageous stay at the crease for the last wicket stand was applauded by one and all.

Tamim Iqbal, however, has been ruled out of the tournament which is a huge setback for Bangladeshi batting unit which is already struggling with their opening combination. While Shakib Al Hasan was dismissed for not in the previous game, he will form the backbone of their lineup with the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah to follow. Mahmudullah and M Mithun rescued their team from a horrible start which should boost their confidence coming into this match.

While Bangladeshi batting was found vulnerable with M Mithun and Mushfiqur Rahim scoring the bulk of the runs, their bowling appeared to be at the peak of their game. Mustafizur Rahman and Mashrafe Mortaza picked a couple of wickets each. Shakib Al Hasan also contributed well conceding just 31 runs in his 9.2 overs. He will have a big role to play in the upcoming match as well.

Liton Das, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Mohammad Mithun, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Abu Hider, Rubel Hossain.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan will be looking to set their record straight with Bangladesh with the Tigers having won three games out of the five played between the two teams. The two teams have played plenty of T20I cricket of late, but their last clash in the ODI was way back in 2016 where the Afghans were thumped by a massive margin of 141 runs. However, they've been particularly impressive this year with wins in T20Is followed by an impressive display in their last match, against Sri Lanka.

Rahmat Shah was impressive in Afghanistan's tour of Ireland and he didn't let it go waste as played a match-winning innings of 72 against Sri Lanka. With the kind of experience he has, he will be a key figure against Bangladesh. Shahzad and Ihsanullah departed after brief knocks, but they looked good till they were at the crease. With contributions from almost everyone in the batting lineup, Afghanistan managed to get to a total of 249 which ultimately proved to be more than competitive.

While the bowling of Afghanistan already appeared deadly on paper with the likes of Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan, they needed to replicate it on the field and they did not disappoint. Mujeeb Ur Rahman picked up the wicket of Sri Lankan opener in the first over of the innings and the likes of Nabi and Rashid kept it tight in the middle overs and eventually succeeded in defending the total with ease.

BAN vs AFG Toss Prediction

With hot weather and the tendency of the surface to get slower as the game progresses, the team winning the toss is likely to bat first

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at Abu Dhabi isn't going to be a lot different as compared to that of Dubai largely due to the same weather conditions and same kind of soil used in the track. Batting will be easier with the new ball and surface will tend to get slower with the progression of the game. Anything over 250 will be a competitive total to say the least

BAN vs AFG Betting Tips

The recently played match between Hong Kong and India was the closest game of the Asia Cup thus far and this is expected to be another close game. Both the teams have a splendid bowling attack which was validated by their respective performance against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh are a little light on their batting with Tamim Iqbal missing. It be the deciding factor in tomorrow's game and we think that with a strong limited-overs bowling unit and a relatively stable batting unit, the Afghans are better placed to emerge victorious tomorrow.
