CAW vs RIR Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 24, 2019

Thanks to a couple of unexpected results, the points table in Bangladesh Premier League has opened up and a scintillating finish to the league stage is on the cards. The top-half of the table is jam-packed with competition followed by Comilla Victorians and Sylhet Thunder breathing down their necks. Comilla Victorians and Khulna Tigers both lost their recent respective matches and have some work to do in the latter half of the tournament. Comilla Victorians are set to lock horns with Rajshahi Royals in the upcoming encounter on 24th December at Chattogram. While the Royals are pretty well placed on the ladder, the Warriors will want to make their way back into the top four. Rajshahi Royals have been in terrific form and while beating them is not going to be easy for the Warriors, they are certainly expected to fight hard in this upcoming encounter.

CAW vs RIR Team Previews

Comilla Warriors

The Comilla Warriors are placed fifth on the points table, but their position on the ladder doesn't really reflects the kind of cricket they have played in the tournament so far. Almost all their losses have been marginal and that is exactly contrary to the manner they won their matches. Their net run-rate of 0.706 is an evident of how dominant they have been in their wins.

Their recent loss to Dhaka Platoon was yet another example of them unable to survive pressure situations. Batting first, Comilla Warriors played well to post a total of 160 runs on the board. Bhanuka Rajapaksa was resposible for Warriors' splendid show in the first half of the first innings. He scored 96 off 65 deliveries. Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, and Dawid Malan, who all had done pretty well up until then failed to contribute much and Rajapaksa combined with Yasir Ali, who scored 30 off 27, got them to a repectable total.

Even though the total wasn't daunting to hunt down, Warriors' bowlers did exceedingly well to keep Dhaka Platoons in check. Robiul Islam Robi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman weren't impressive in the powerplay, though Islam Robi picked up a wicket, but their bowlers bounced back in the middle overs once Soumya Sarkar got rid of Mahedi Hasan. Mujeeb Ur Rahman dismissed Asif Ali and Jaker Ali on consecutive deliveries to leave Platoons toterring at 88 for 4 in 10 overs. Their bowlers, however, lacked penetration in the death overs as Shahid Afridi and Mominum Haque took Platoons to a five-wicket win on the second-last delivery of the match.

Rajshahi Royals

After a narrow loss to Khulna Tigers, the Royals looked a bit down and wounded. However, they bounced back beautifully in the repeat encounter as they defeated Tigers by a comprehensive margin. The win over Tigers pushed them to the second spot on the ladder with six points in four matches and a remarkable net run-rate of 1.417, which is the best among seven teams in the competition.

While their bowlers lacked accuracy and discipline in their previous fixture, it were the same bowlers who set up the win for the Royals in the encounter that was concluded on Monday evening. Andre Russell likes to use many bowlers on the field, a strategy that we haven't seem popular with most captains. He used as many as eight bowlers on Monday and their bowlers didn't disappoint. Andre Russell himself was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up four wickets at the expense of 37 runs in his four overs.

Chasing a total of 146, their batsmen didn't seem worried at all. Liton Das and Afif Hossain got them off to a solid start, adding 75 runs for the first wicket in under nine overs and it was an easy cruise for the Royals thereafter. Even though they lost a couple of wickets in quick succession, all it needed was another small partnership and Andre Russell and Ravi Bopara ensured the same. Royals evenutally cruised home with two overs to spare and seven wickets in hand.

CAW vs RIR Betting Tips

Both the sides have shown utter dominance in the matches they have respectively won. The difference between the two sides in the tournament so far has been the ability to thrive under pressure. While the Royals have used pressure situations to their advantage, the Warriors have failed to hold their nerve. It is yet another important clash for both the sides and experience as well as holding the nerve would be a key. Considering the form of the two sides and their on-paper combination, Rajshahi Royals would are the team to place your money on in this encounter.
