Two of the top teams of IPL are going to fight tonight and we can expect a cracker of the game. Match 16 of IPL 6 will be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at former’s home ground Chennai. The match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 13, 2013 at 8 PM IST. Both the teams have won their last game and that too quite convincingly.
CSK won the last match in style against Kings XI Punjab with a margin of 10 wickets after dismissing them for 138 runs and that too at their home ground. The openers came to the party with Murali Vijay and Mike Hussey remaining unbeaten with 50 and 86 runs respectively. Hussey was pretty impressive as he scored the runs fluently at an impressive strike rate of 159. Dhoni has already showed his power in the first match when he scored half century at a strike rate of almost 200 but unfortunately they lost the match. However, the middle order batting is a bit of concern as players like Suresh Raina, Badrinath and Jadeja not contributing as much as required. The bowling has been superb with Dark Nannes leading from the front with two wickets and at an economy of around 4 in the last match. Chris Morris would be happy with his debut taking two crucial wickets. However, Bravo has been superb and has performed exceptionally with bowl and fielding taking 3 wickets in last match. Overall the team is picking up and they are performing well as a unit.
RCB are at the top of the IPL 6 as of now and they have literally demolished every opposition except for one match which they lost. The last match saw Gayle storm taking place which killed the confidence and the morale of the IPL 5 winner Kolkata Knight Riders. Gayle has hit the maximum sixes till now and the RCB skipper Virat Kohli is the highest run scorer till now. The batting looks extremely solid and they are capable of devastating any team in the current form. In terms of bowling, RP Singh has been superb with three wickets taken in the last match. He has always been among the wicket takers in IPL. Vinay Kumar has also been superb especially in death overs taking wickets and also very economical. The other bowlers have been decent and contributed in bits and pieces.
This is one match where we can be assured of lots and lots of runs being scored on either sides and we can also expect lots of fire crackers to take place. Both the teams’ top order is in top form and the middle order has not been exposed much. Bowling wise CSK has more options and variety and can play a crucial role to stop the run flow of the dangerous RCB. In their previous meetings, both the teams have played 12 matches against each other with CSK has won 7 matches. Also, CSK has won four out of five matches played in Chennai against RCB. So we can say that there is hardly anything to choose from both the sides in all departments but considering the fact that the CSK is playing at home, we feel that CSK has a slight edge and may play a spoil sport to RCB’s party time.
Winner: Chennai Super Kings, 1.80 @ William Hill
