DBH vs JZS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 07, 2018

Durban Heat is all but out of the reckoning for a playoff spot after losing five out of its first six games. Things are not going to get easier for the side, though, as it prepares to take on the in-form Jozi Stars. A run of wins has seen the Jozi Stars jump up to 2nd place on the league table and the top spot is within reach as well.

Another win with a bonus point will see the Jozi Stars displace Cape Town Blitz from its current top spot on Mzansi Super League Standings.

Durban Heat has failed to make the best use of its resources and must find a way to motivate its players as the season winds down. It is not going to be easy considering the chances of making it to the final are very slim, however, if they play with freedom then they could make some noise towards the end of the tournament.

DBH vs JZS Team Previews

Durban Heat

Durban Heat has struggled with all aspects of its game and even though the side is packed with many talented players, they have never really come together to form a cohesive unit. A heavy defeat to the Paarl Rocks in its last game was very damaging to the Heat’s prospects.

It was one of the few matches that the batting order got off to a good start but once again the big players failed to fire. It has been clear in the MSL that any side hoping to compete and win the tournament must have its best players in form.

For Durban Heat, those players are David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, and Albie Morkel.

Neither of the players was able to get into double figures and that is why Durban Heat failed to put together a challenging total.

We don’t want to count out a player like David Miller because he can be so dangerous but the recent form of Zondo, Klaasen, and Morkel has been quite disappointing. The side’s bowling resources have also failed to fire as expected.

Keshav Maharaj had a few games where he was economical but he too has been expensive in recent games. Kyle Abbott is our pick for the best bowler in the side because he constantly seems to look for wickets. Vernon Philander is a supreme test bowler but this format is probably where he is the weakest.

His gentle pace and predictable length is perfect for the batsmen to line up on a flat pitch.

Durban Heat is up against an in-form side and will have to do really well to get itself a win.

Durban Heat Playing 11

Jozi Stars

After two consecutive losses to start the tournament, the Jozi Stars have risen to the top of the Mzansi Super League. That rise has come with the awesome form of Reeza Hendricks, who is showing why he could be one of South Africa’s most important players in the time to come.

Hendricks has scored two centuries in this competition already, is the highest scorer of the MSL, and is getting his runs at an average of 115 right now. The consistency with which he is able to score his runs must be scary to the opposition.

Now that he has a big target o his back, it will be interesting to see how he goes about things.

He is not the only batsman in form for the Jozi Stars, though.

Van der Dussen is scoring runs very consistently while Dan Christian is providing a terrific boost to the scorecard from his floating position in the middle order. Christian comes into bat when 5-7 overs are remaining in the inning and tees off straight away.

With Chris Gayle back at the top of the order, the Jozi Stars are going to be strengthened even more.

The bowling has done very well in the Mzansi Super League as well.

Kagiso Rabada, Beuran Hendricks, and Duanne Oliver are all excellent fast bowlers while being different to each other. Rabada can hustle you with pace while Beuran Hendricks has the left-arm angle. Oliver can also be very effective at changing the length up to surprise the batsmen.

Dan Christian took 4 wickets to continue being one of the most vital members of the side. Simon Harmer and Pongolo are also having a good MSL to round out the side.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather in Durban has been quite disappointing till now and we don’t have a good weather forecast going into this match either. The chances of rain are very high and we are very likely to have a truncated match.

The pitch in Durban is helpful to the fast bowlers with some pace and bounce on offer. The batsmen can also make the most of the conditions and score freely if they get their eye in.

If the weather gods relent then we could have an excellent match in sporting conditions.
