DDS vs SHS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 12, 2019

The Dhaka Dynamites continued their unbeaten run in the Bangladesh Premier League 2019 after winning a heart-stopping match against the Rangpur Riders. It was one of the few high scoring matches that we have seen in BPL 2019 so far. The big-hitting was complemented by a hat-trick as well which eventually helped tip things the Dhaka Dynamites way.

There will be no rest for the Dhaka Dynamites as they take on the Sylhet Sixers in what promises to be an exciting match. The Sylhet Sixers registered their first win of the BPL in the last match thanks to some important contributions from their leading batsmen.

There is no doubt that they would be feeling confident about their game going into this game.

DDS vs SHS Team Previews

Dhaka Dynamites

The Dhaka Dynamites have been playing some very good cricket in the BPL and are sitting right at the top of the BPL league table. What is even more significant is that their top order has not really fired as yet. Hazratullah Zazai came into this the Bangladesh Premier League with a big reputation after hitting six sixes in the Afghanistan Premier League, however, he has not lived up to expectations.

Even in the last victory, it was the middle order which bailed the Dhaka Dynamites out. Kieron Pollard was the top scorer for the side but the fact that he came into bat relatively early should not be overlooked. Pollard had an excellent CPL this year where he batted in the top-4. Too often, he is pushed deep into the batting order and held back when there is no reason to do so.

Hopefully, the Dhaka Dynamites will allow him to bat further up the order and allow him to play in the manner with which he has been. His 62 came off just 26 deliveries and included four sixes. Andre Russell also smoked three sixes in the 13 balls he was at the crease.

With runs for Shakib Al Hasan as well, the Dhaka Dynamites will be happy their senior players are in good form. If the top order also starts to fire then the Dynamites are going to be even more difficult to stop.

The bowling for the Dhaka Dynamites was a bit of a letdown. They were defending a big total on a pitch where chasing is not the easiest. Yet, Sunil Narine, Shuvagata Hom, and the others were not able to keep a lid on the scoring.

It took an amazing hat-trick from Aliss Islam to be able to derail the Rangpur Riders chase and get the match in the bag. This is something that the Dhaka Dynamites will have to be careful about since the Sylhet Sixers have some very dangerous batsmen in their side as well.

Sylhet Sixers

The biggest gain for the Sylhet Sixers in the last match was the form of David Warner. He scored a fifty and looked very much at ease in the middle. He top-scored with 59 and was part of two important partnerships through the inning.

We have seen David Warner on many occasions in the past and he can go on some amazing scoring sprees when he is in top gear. He has the talent and the experience to be the batting lynchpin for the side and getting his wicket should be paramount for all opposing teams.

While David Warner struck form, his colleagues in the Sylhet Sixers top-order continued to struggle. Liton Das, Sabbir Rahman, and Nasir Hossain scored a total of three runs between them. We know from previous international matches how good Liton Das and Sabbir Rahman can be when they are at their best. Somehow, the Sylhet Sixers need to find a way for these batsmen to come back to their best.

If that happens, then suddenly the Sylhet Sixers look like a very dangerous side considering their strong lower order.

Atif Hossain and Nicholas Pooran scored valuable runs in the last match. Hossain got 45 while Pooran was not out on 52. Nicholas Pooran is showing his adaptability by scoring runs in alien conditions and is our batsmen to watch out for this tournament.

We just hope he does not get pigeonholed as a late order specialist because he has the ability to construct big innings as well.

Taskin Ahmed took four wickets and Sandeep Lamichhane kept a tight lid on the scoring in the last match. These two were the standout bowlers on the night but there is no doubt that the Sylhet Sixers bowling attack is a bit weak.

Mohammad Irfan has been off his game so far and that is proving to be a big problem. The Sylhet Sixers will be aware that they are taking on a strong batting lineup and any lapses could cost them heavily.

Sylhet Sixers Playing 11

Liton Das, David Warner, Nasir Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Afif Hossain, Nicholas Pooran, Alok Kapali, S Tanvir, Sandeep Lamichhane, Taskin Ahmed, Al-Amin Hossain.

Pitch and Conditions

The BPL 2019 match between the Dhaka Dynamites and the Sylhet Sixers is going to be played at the Shere Bangla Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka. It is astonishing that the square of the stadium has not become a mud pit seeing the number of matches that are played on it.

The first game of the day tends to be a higher scoring one than the following one and so we could see a low scoring contest between these two sides. The spinners are going to dominate proceedings as they have been in the Bangladesh Premier League 2019 up until now.

DDS vs SHS Betting Tips

We think the Dhaka Dynamites may be in for their first defeat of the BPL this season. The Sylhet Sixers have the batting to knock them off, especially now that David Warner is in the groove of things. The odds available for Sylhet Sixers make them an easy pick.
