Our Prediction: to win, N/A Bet on to win for Real Money
A surprising win for the Dolphins against the Cobras on Friday has taken the team ahead to the second position on the table with 19 points; just 6 points behind the leaders and having two matches more in hand than them, the Dolphins have set themselves in a very favorable position at this crucial juncture. They now face the Warriors, who had to share the points with Titans due to a washout in the last game and are placed 3rd with 16 points. Both teams will face a fierce battle as they try to dominate the other and with only a difference of 3 points between them, this contest will be the one to win as the competition is set to get tougher now.
Leading the team to a 7-runs victory over the Cobras, Craig Alexander took 4-27 to demolish the opponents during their chase of 146 runs set by his teammates earlier on. Zondo, Smit and Frylinck gave good support to restrict the run-flow and suffocated the Dolphins to just 138 runs. Earlier, Cameron Delport continued with his good form by smashing a quick 49 runs off 37 balls to give a heady start to the innings and taking the score to 82-1 after 10 overs. However, after his dismissal, the rest of the batsmen could add only 63 runs more and they ended with a total of 145 runs. Miller and Smit tried their best to score the big runs and they seem confident to support the team from the middle order, however, building partnerships is something this team must focus on to keep winning matches from here on. Alexander has been phenomenal in this series and along with Frylinck and others, this tight bowling unit will be a key to their performance and the batsmen need to bring out their best in every match.
Their previous match against Titans was washed out due to the rains; however, they weren’t dismayed at having to share the points with the opponents as the batsmen had collapsed trying to make a decent total in 12 overs under pressure. It was a complete disaster as they could muster only 59 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 11.4 overs, batting first. Ashwell Prince and Davy Jacobs were the only ones to score double-digit figures and while Prince has been performing well for the team, he too succumbed after scoring 20 runs off 22 deliveries. JJ Smuts and Ingram who have previously done well with the bat, failed against the speedsters and it was a performance that they would wish to erase from their memories. The match couldn’t proceed into the 2nd innings and they were lucky to share the points. While they have suffered a setback, the players must regain their composure and give a good fight to the Dolphins if they want to keep their hopes alive.
While both teams have a talented set of players who have been performing consistently and delivering results in this series, the pressure of the competition is surely taking its toll on some of the players. Dolphins definitely have the edge with their recent win against the Cobras and would be charged up to continue on their winning momentum and seem likely to win here.
