DUR vs YOR Match Prediction - Aug 23, 2019

We are down to the closing stages of the Vitality T20 Blast, and we are still far from getting our top-four sides. Durham Jets are just outside of the top four teams at the moment, and another win here should be enough to push them above Derbyshire, provided other results go their way. They are set to face Yorkshire in their upcoming match. The match is set to be played at the Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on Friday, 23rd August. For Yorkshire, things haven't been as bright, and they are struggling to avoid getting the wooden-spoon as of now. They'll be looking to rise up the ladder with a win here in this match. This match is of considerable importance for both the sides, albeit for different reasons, and we expect a tightly-fought contest on Friday.

DUR vs YOR Team Previews

Durham

The rain has already played a huge role in Vitality T20 Blast, and the Jets haven't been spared either. Just when they were looking to get into the top-four, two washouts in three matches washed out their plans as well. They have another chance to shrug that and get into the top four with a win on Friday.

In the tournament so far, the Jets have done well and are looking good to get into the playoffs, but more losses than wins in their campaign so far has hurt them big time.

The biggest plus point for the Jets has been the performance of D'Arcy Short. Short has been splendid in the tournament with both bat and ball and with Scott Steel backing him up at the top of the order, they arguably have the best opening pair in the tournament. Short and Steel have 368 and 275 runs to their name respectively. However, apart from those two, there's hardly been any consistency from their batsmen as well as their bowlers, which has been the prime reason for their on and off sort of performance up until now.

Durham Playing 11

D'Arcy Short, Scott Steel, Gareth Harte, Graham Clark, Peter Handscomb, Harry Adair, Liam Trevaskis, Ben Raine, Brydon Carse, Nathan Rimmington, Matthew Potts.

Yorkshire

Three matches ago, Vikings were seen struggling to qualify for the playoffs. Now they are struggling to avoid the wooden spoon. They've played exceptionally poorly in their last few matches, and a couple of washouts due to rain has acted as a catalyst to their downfall.

Such has been their fate in the tournament so far that only six matches out of a total of ten played have yielded a result. In those six, the Yorks have managed to win only one. They've managed to lose from the positions from which they should have cruised as was the case against Worcestershire as well.

All in all, they haven't played as poorly as their position on the points table reflects. However, their failure to seize the opportunities and handle the pressure in crunch situations has cost them a few crucial points. While they are no longer in the run to qualify for the playoffs, they'd love to finish off their T20 campaign with a few wins to their name.

Yorkshire Playing 11

DUR vs YOR Betting Tips

Mathematically, the Yorkshire are still in with the chance to qualify for the final eight. However, considering their net run rate, the way they've played, and their matches to go, that chance is only mathematical. They are coming off a win in their county fixture which should give them a lot of confidence. Durham Jets, on the other hand, look good to qualify for the playoffs and a couple of more wins should put them in a good spot. They are playing at home and are an overall better side as compared to Yorkshire, and are, therefore, better placed to qualify for the next round.
