ENGW vs AUSW Match Prediction - Jul 07, 2019

Australia sealed the ODI leg of the Women's Ashes with a hard-fought win in the second match of the series. The story of the two-match has pretty much been the same. In both the games, England failed to pile up a big total on the board, which in itself is quite an unlikely thing in England. Chasing those totals, Australia didn't look convincing in both the matches, but still managed to somehow get to the other end. Both the sides still have plenty of improvements to make as we move towards the final of the three ODIs of the series. The third ODI will be played at County Ground, Grace Road, Leicester on 7th June. With two crucial points at stake in this match, England will be keen to bounce back so as not to fall behind in the context of things.

ENGW vs AUSW Team Previews

England Women

After an incredible win streak in limited overs cricket, things haven't exactly gone as per the plan for English Women. They've failed to do anything of substance in all facets of the game and have probably left them with too much to do to get the trophy.

The likes of Heather Knight, Amy Jones, and Sarah Taylor have failed to make an impression in the series so far, which has been the prime reason for their poor performance. Katherine Brunt looked a little uncomfortable in the previous match, and her absence would undoubtedly put more pressure on their already under-performing batting unit.

Up until now, their bowling has done reasonably well, but there batting has failed to score big runs consistently. Going into the next match and in the shortest version of the game thereafter, England would need their batsmen to step up their game. Considering that they were in prime form just a couple of matches before, in their last series, it wouldn't be surprising if they end up giving Aussies a tough fight.

England Women Playing 11

Tammy Beaumont, Amy Ellen Jones, Sarah Taylor, Heather Knight, Natalie Sciver, Fran Wilson, Danielle Wyatt, Anya Shrubsole, Sophie Ecclestone, Laura Marsh, Kate Cross.

Australia Women

Even though Australia are coming with two wins in their previous two matches, they wouldn't be too impressed in the manner in which those wins came. They managed to just edge over the line in the opening match and exhibited only a minor improvement in the following game.

While their bowlers have done brilliantly in both the matches, their batsmen failed to impress as much. Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry both have a half-century each to their name so far, but the likes of Meg Lanning, Nicole, and Rachel Haynes do not have too many runs behind them.

With bowling doing well and batting somehow managing to get them across the line, the management won't be too fussed about their performance, especially considering the performance of Meg Lanning and Co. in the warm-ups. All in all, they look to be a pretty formidable unit and will be a hard team to beat in the upcoming contest.

ENGW vs AUSW Betting Tips

Considering the way things have gone in the series so far, Australia appear to be firm favorites to win the upcoming contest. Having said that, they'd be wary of England team which is known to bounce back in the back-end of the tournament, as was the case in the last edition of the competition. With bowlers doing exceedingly well for them and an excellent on-paper batting unit, Australians go in as the firm favorites to win the upcoming fixture.
