HBH vs MLR Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 19, 2020

HBH vs MLR Match Prediction - Dec 19, 2020

The Melbourne Renegades completely imploded in their previous BBL matches and suffered one of the heaviest defeats in the history of the Big Bash League. Now, they are up against another tough challenge as they take on the Hobart Hurricanes at their traditional stronghold.

The Hurricanes are also coming into this match on the back of a loss. They were defeated by the Adelaide Strikers at Launceston but are near the top of the table with two wins from three matches so far.

It will be interesting to see which team is able to lift itself quicker after a disappointing previous match.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Renegades BBL 2020-21 is going to be played at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart on the 19th of December 2020.

HBH vs MLR Team Previews

Hobart Hurricanes

The Hobart Hurricanes lost some early wickets in the previous match and that set them back quite a bit. Ben McDermott and Colin Ingram did manage to stage a recovery but they were unable to convert their scores into match-winning ones.

Despite the misstep in the previous match, we continue to believe that the Hobart Hurricanes have a very good batting lineup. Darcy Short, Will Jacks, Ben McDermott, Peter Handscomb, Colin Ingram, Tim David, and Macalister Wright are all pretty good batsmen with most of them already in the runs this season.

There is some concern about the form of Peter Handscomb but we think he is going to hit form sooner rather than later as well.

James Faulkner has been swinging the ball and that is a very good sign. If his bowling can continue to be as effective as he has been so far then the Hobart Hurricanes are going to be tough to beat.

Riley Meredith, Nathan Ellis, and Scott Boland round out the attack with the all-rounders chipping in as needed.

Melbourne Renegades

There is nothing that you can take from a 145 runs defeat in a T20 match. The Melbourne renegades need to forget that match ever happened and just try to start fresh. It was not too long back that they won their opening match with some very impressive bowling performances.

Josh Lalor, Benny Howell, Kane Richardson, and Beau Webster have a lot of experience of bowling in T20 cricket. Peter Hatzoglou has been quite impressive in the two matches he has played as well.

On the bowling front, things look settled and all that the Melbourne Renegades need to focus on is the execution.

The death bowling is a bit of a worry as Kane Richardson is not quite the bowler he was at his peak.

The bating is where things get grim. There is just so much riding on the performances of Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh. If even one of them gets out early, the team is going to be under pressure.

The Renegades desperately need Rilee Rossouw to have a very good game (and tournament) otherwise their batting is always going to be prone to collapses.

Shaun Marsh, Sam Harper, Rilee Rossouw, BJ Webster, Mohammad Nabi, Will Sutherland, Jake Fraser McGurk, KW Richardson, Josh Lalor, Peter hatzoglou, Noor Ahmad.

HBH vs MLR Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss may want to bat first. Neither team covered itself in glory with its batting last week and so trying to bat without any scoreboard pressure may be the way to go.

Pitch and Conditions

We are going to see another good batting surface at the Bellerive Oval. The bowlers will get some bounce from the surface, as they always do, but the pace of the wicket is very even and conducive to high-scoring matches.

Something around 180 is going to be on the mind of the team batting first as anything under seems difficult to defend.

HBH vs MLR Betting Tips

The Hobart Hurricanes love playing at the Bellerive Oval. They have the batting depth to bounce back strongly from most situations and the bowling to be able to highlight the Melbourne Renegades weaknesses.

We are backing the home team in this contest.
