HBHW vs MLSW Match Prediction - Nov 01, 2020

Melbourne Stars is the only team that has seen all three of its scheduled matches being rained-out in the WBBL so far. As a side that was assembled with some very expensive acquisitions, it would desperate to see what it can achieve on the field.

The Stars will be playing this next match against the Hobart Hurricanes. With one defeat and two rained-out matches, the Hobart Hurricanes have not had a great time of it in the WBBL either. They need to sort out some obvious problems in their team other this season could be an unhappy one for them once more.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Stars WBBL 2020 is going to be played at Drummoyne Oval, Sydney on the 1st of November 2020.

HBHW vs MLSW Team Previews

Hobart Hurricanes Women

The Hobart Hurricanes were bowled out for just 84 in the only match that they have played so far. We knew that they had problems with their batting lineup coming into the tournament but a couple of players in form can help cover things up.

As things stand, Rachel Priest and Naomi Stalenberg are two mid-level acquisitions that have started poorly. Neither Priest nor Stalenberg are the kinds of players that have set the WBBL alight in previous editions.

They are past their best and can add stability at best.

Hayley Matthews also seems to have lost the phenomenal consistency and power she had at her best. She has had a tough time in International cricket as well so this may be the right chance for the Melbourne Stars to come up against her.

Belinda Vakarewa is going to lead the bowling alongside Nicola Carey, Chloe Tyron, and Hayley Matthews. Once again, this is a bowling attack that is average on most days and is not going to trouble most opponents.

Melbourne Stars Women

We think this is an excellent chance for the new-look Melbourne Stars to lay down a marker. Meg Lanning has already shown that she is in good form with a fifty to her name. The bowling attack also did well in the second match before the rain came down.

We really believe that the Melbourne Stars could have had two wins to their name had it not been for the rain.

On paper, the Melbourne Stars have a much better batting lineup than the Hobart Hurricanes. Meg Lanning, Elyse Villani, Mignon du Preez, Annabel Sutherland, and Natalie Sciver form an excellent lineup. There is enough depth and power in the lineup to be able to go hard from the start.

It also gives Meg Lanning more support than she has had in the last couple of seasons.

The bowling attack for the Melbourne Stars is not the best. Katherine Brunt and Nate Sciver are international professionals but there is a drop in quality after them. Holly Ferling, Sophie Day, and the all-rounders will need to step up their game to help make this Melbourne Stars team into a genuine contender.

HBHW vs MLSW Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first unless there the rain is right around the corner. That is when batting second becomes an advantage with DLS calculations.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather in Sydney has been at the center of all WBBL conversations, unfortunately. The forecast for this match is much better, though, and we could have some stoppages but a result is very likely. The pitch is expected to be a bit slow and favors the spinners.

Overall, though, the batters should be able to score freely after getting their eye in.

A score of around 140 is around the minimum that teams batting first will aim for.

HBHW vs MLSW Betting Tips

We think the Melbourne Stars are the team to back in this match. They have a much-deeper batting lineup and although their bowling is a bit weak, we don’t think the Hobart Hurricanes have the batting to take advantage of that.

Bet on the Melbourne Stars to win.
