Things are heating up in the World Cup of Cricket as we are watching the closing matches of the group stages. While India has sealed their deal with the playoffs, it will be a big match coming up when they meet the West Indies at Chepauk this tomorrow. The respective fans of these teams will demand nothing less than a win, and West Indies needs to secure their spot in the playoffs as well. India on the other hand are secure will probably try out some different players before the seriousness begins.
India have had several of their star players underperform in this years World Cup. Yusuf Pathan, Virat Kohli and Harbhajan Singh all have been supposed to be the trusted players that were to win it for India this year, but there are other players that have stepped up in their drought. Yuvraj Singh has really played well in this tournament. It’s likely that there will be some changes to the lineup for this match, as R Ashwin will probably make his homedebut for this World Cup in place of Ashish Nehra.
Likely line-up: Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Yusuf Pathan, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel, R Ashwin.
The West Indies were pretty naked when they lined up against England last thursday. We could see that they dearly missed Shivnarine Chanderpaul. I am not sure how they are going to be able to replace him and they are going to rely heavily on Kieron Pollard and Chris Gayle to do the bulk of the work for the team.
Likely line-up: Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Dwayne Smith, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Devon Thomas, Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy, Andre Russell, Sulieman Benn, Kemar Roach, Devendra Bishoo.
Both teams have already secured their playoff spots (although there is a possibility that Bangladesh can overcome West Indies, however unlikely), so they will only be playing for a better matchup in the quarter-finals. We believe that India has the best chance of getting the job done as they are the better team and want to face a weaker opponent going into the playoffs. The home advantage will give India that extra edge and get them the win.
West India has to rely on Chris Gayle to do the job, and some of the other talented players like Pollard, Bravo and Bishoo, but we feel that India has a better team and are likely to end up ahead in this match.
