IRE vs WI Match Prediction - May 11, 2019

Ireland and the West Indies are getting ready to face each other once again in the series. This will be their second and last meeting against each other in this trie series which also features Bangladesh. The two sides played against each other in the opening match where the West Indian batting set world-records on the way to an easy victory.

Ireland has managed to pick up two points thanks to a rained out match against Bangladesh and will be hoping to put up a much better show in this game. The West Indies were beaten very easily by Bangladesh and will know they cannot take Ireland lightly either.

An upset win here would really open up the Ireland ODI tri-series and give the host nation a big boost as well.

IRE vs WI Team Previews

Ireland

It is unfortunate that the second match for Ireland in this tri-series was washed out completely. They have done pretty well when it comes to the fifty over format of late and this was a chance to show that they had built on those successes.

The first match Ireland played was also against the West Indies and that was an absolute disaster. The Irish bowlers were completely ineffective and were unable to have any impact on the West Indian batsmen. This is something that Ireland must find a way past.

The West Indian batting is not very deep or overly dependable. A few early wickets can open up the cracks in their game. This is where bowlers like Tim Murtagh, Mark Adair, Joshua Little, and George Dockrell have to be better.

The pitch may not have anything in it for the bowlers but we are certain chances can be created through relentless discipline. The Irish bowlers were rattled in the previous match and di not have an answer. Hopefully, they will be better prepared this time around.

Ireland’s batting is not too bad either. There are some very good players like Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie, and Kevin O’Brien in the side mixed with some new blood. Ireland’s talent pool seems to have stagnated a bit especially when it comes to the batting.

Someone like Lorcan Tucker, who scored a duck in the first game, needs to get some runs to help improve the depth in the Ireland batting. Ireland showed some good signs of being able to score freely against the West Indian bowling attack and we think they will be able to do even better in this match.

Ireland Playing 11

WTS Porterfield, PR Stirling, Andy Balbirnie, James McCollum, Kevin O'Brien, GC Wilson, George Dockrell, Mark Richard Adair, WB Rankin, TJ Murtagh, Joshua Little.

West Indies

It’s clear that the West Indies are looking at this tri-series with a view to experiment and find out more about their players ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019. That could be the only explanation why the West Indies chose to break up an opening partnership that had just broken a world record unless there was an injury that we were not aware of.

There are a couple of players that are making their place in the eleven a surety. Shai Hope has hit two hundreds in two matches and we are not betting against him scoring another one here. If there was ever a chance to score a hundred when in excellent form then it has to be against the Irish bowling attack.

Hope also has an insatiable hunger for runs and bats at the top of the order. He is someone we would bet on in this match as well.

Darren Bravo has been missing out in this series so far and that is unlike him. He is another quality 50 over player that must have one eye on the ICC World Cup 2019. As far as Sunil Ambris goes, he really does not appear to be a batsman who is going to last long at the international level.

With Roston Chase, Jonathan Carter, and Jason Holder in the side, the West Indies definitely have a strong batting lineup on paper. In reality, though, a few early wickets could trigger a collapse.

The West Indian bowling was smashed to all corners of the park by Bangladesh and that cannot be good for their confidence. Sheldon Cotrell, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel, and Jason Holder form a very decent fast bowling group. We would bet on them coming good sooner rather than later.

Kemar Roach may not have the pace he once did but his skill has not reduced at all. He could be the leading wicket-taker for the West Indies in this match.

West Indies Playing 11

SW Ambris, Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, Jonathan Carter, Jason Holder, F Allen, Ashley Nurse, Kemar Roach, Sheldon Cottrell, Shannon Gabriel.

IRE vs WI Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss is likely to want to bat first and put up a good score on the board. The pitch is expected to be good for batting and remain like that for the duration of the match.

Pitch and Conditions

Ireland vs West Indies ODI match in the Ireland Tri-Series is going to be played at the Village, Dublin. The weather forecast for Dublin is much better on match day than it has been the last few days. A sunny day with just about a 10% chance of rain has been forecast.

The pitch at Dublin is excellent for batting and some really big scores have been hit here. The team batting first would like a minimum of 300 to feel satisfied.

IRE vs WI Betting Tips

Ireland has a better knowledge of the local conditions and some talented cricketers but it does not have the same number of match winners as the West Indies. A lot many more things will need to go right for Ireland to win and this is why it makes sense to bet on the West Indies.

Bet on the West Indies to win.
