Our Prediction: Jamaica Tallawahs to win, 1.57 Bet on Jamaica Tallawahs to win for Real Money
The Tallawahs defeated Zouks in the last match to take their points tally to 6; they stand fourth on the table and will take on Red Steel, who defeated Warriors on Saturday, on 9th July at Kingston. A spirited knock by Gayle and Walton took the Jamaicans to a welcome victory by 9 wickets and they will be eager to repeat the performance on Thursday to take their campaign ahead. Red Steel on the other hand won its first match of the tournament and will try to continue winning more matches to stay alive; it will be quite a challenging contest as both sides have determined players, who can turn the course of events in their favor.
Gayle is surely the master blaster for the team and when he packs a punch with the bat, the team surely does well; his unbeaten 64 off 42 balls that featured 5 powerful sixes and three boundaries helped to keep the scoreboard ticking against Zouks while Walton played an able partner by contributing 76 off 48 deliveries. Both are in good form and along with bowlers like Santokie, Taylor and Russell who restricted the opponents to 158 runs, the team seems to be shaping up nicely for tougher challenges ahead.
Vettori has been economical but hasn’t been lucky so far with the wickets; in the last game against Patriots, he gave away too many easy runs and failed to take wickets. His experience will surely bear fruits for the team but meanwhile it’s up to Santokie, Russell, Taylor, Miller and Theron to show consistency and challenge the opposition.
The batting line-up depends too much on Gayle, Walton and Chris Lynn, who have been firing from all cylinders but the others need to step up and share the responsibilities with equal measure. Overall, they have the talent and experience to win matches and climb up the ladder before it’s too late to recover.
They registered the first win of this season against the Warriors by 3 wickets in a close finish; Dwayne Bravo who claimed an amazing 4-18 helped to restrict the opponent to a mere 118 runs with good contribution from Cooper, Kallis and Badree who took 5 wickets between them. Although the batsmen did considerably well this time, they need to be cautious against the Tallawahs, especially players like Kallis, Delport and Kamran Akmal who will be targeted right from the word go.
On the bowling front, Sulieman Benn, Badree, Kallis and Bravo bring their capabilities to the table but youngsters like Kevon Cooper must also step up to take wickets regularly. Kamran Akmal, who scored 30 off 17 against Warriors, must play more freely and help them build solid innings whereas Kallis and Delport must start the innings on a positive fashion to get some big runs on board.
If they can work well as a team and once again come up with a winning strategy against hard-hitters like Gayle, Walton and Chris Lynn, the team can surely expect to move ahead with a win here.
While both teams have recently won their respective matches to get a morale boost and are equally matched to win the contest, due to the home conditions coupled with the presence of Gayle, Russell and Lynn and equally good bowling line-up, we feel the Tallawahs have the edge to win the game on Thursday.
