Our Prediction: to win, N/A Bet on to win for Real Money
The Ram Slam T20 series has seen many ups and downs this season and teams are not leaving any stone unturned to make it to the knockout stage. On Wednesday, the Dolphins who are placed 4th on the table with 11 points from four matches will face the Lions, who continue to be right at the bottom in the last position with just 3 points. The Lions did well to tie their last match against the Warriors but going by their record so far, the Dolphins undoubtedly have fared better than the Lions. However, the T20 format can throw up surprises at any point and this contest will not be less entertaining by any means.
The Lions rose from the ashes as they fought back hard in their chase for 157 runs against the Warriors but alas could only tie the match in the end; though they would have loved a rare win, the team is happy with its performance nonetheless. Gulam Bodi stuck his feet firmly to the ground and ensured the team got to a comfortable position by scoring a brilliant 78 runs off 57 balls and while Quinton gave good support to Bodi, he could have performed much better. Alviro Petersen continued to struggle with the bat and the entire middle order collapsed in a disappointing manner; had Tanvir’s efforts received a bit of support from the other lower order batsmen, the team could have finished with a win easily but it was not to be. The bowling wasn’t sharp enough and too many runs were given away; they need to step up and be precise if they want to make a serious dent on the opponents. It’s high time the batsmen lived up to their names and deliver results that will keep their hopes alive here.
Cameron Delport again failed to score runs in the last match and the dismal performance of the top order let down the team in their chase of 158 runs set by the Cobras. While Morne van Wyk and Cody Chetty had done well in previous encounters, the duo couldn’t rise up to the expectations against the Cobras and were dismissed early on in the game. Smit and Zondo performed well to post a 75-run partnership for the 6th wicket but with hardly any support from the others in the batting lie-up, they lost the match by 25 runs. The bowlers who have done pretty well so far also need to tighten their attack and while taking wickets is important, they must also learn to restrict the opponents to low totals. Frylinck took 3 wickets and hurt the Cobras by taking the wicket of Amla and Alexander who took a wicket, was also excellent in his fielding that got Duminy run-out. The bowling squad needs to be more focused and the batsmen need to quickly overcome their weaknesses if they want to win matches from here on.
The teams are not in favorable positions in their points tally so far and will fight hard to survive this season; while the Dolphins look more confident to make a comeback into the tournament after the spirited performance by Smit and Zondo in recent match against Cobras after being down and out, the Dolphins are backed up by some experienced players and look good to triumph over the Dolphins.
