MLRW vs SYTW Match Prediction - Nov 07, 2020

We have the two opposite ends of the WBBL going up against each other as the Melbourne Renegades get ready to go up against Sydney Thunder. While Melbourne Renegades has lost every single one of its completed matches, Sydney Thunder is unbeaten after three wins from three completed matches.

The difference in the approach and execution of the two teams could not be more different.

On the face of it, this match appears to be a mismatch and an easy victory for Sydney Thunder. Is there something deeper to look out for, though?

Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Thunder WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the Hurstville Oval, Sydney on the 7th of November 2020.

MLRW vs SYTW Team Previews

Melbourne Renegades Women

Everything about the Melbourne Renegades has been shambles so far. We saw some decent batting from them in one match but that was not replicated in the next. Georgia Wareham is the only batter so far to have made any sort of impact for the Renegades.

Lizelle Lee has been her unpredictable best and the Renegades now join the list of franchises that keep waiting for her to fire. Sophie Molineux, Amy Satterthwaite, and Courtney Webb have not been able to provide any sort of batting support to the team.

This is a very dangerous sign for the Melbourne Renegades. They managed to lose to the Hobart Hurricanes by nine wickets in their previous match, perhaps the other weakest team in the WBBL this season.

The bowling trio of international spinners has been unable to have an impact on the opposition batters so far and there is nothing to suggest that will change from this game onward. The Melbourne Renegades are going up against a side that has the highest run-getter and the highest wicket-taker of the tournament so far.

Nothing that we have seen so far from the Renegades suggests that they are going to be able to turn things around.

Melbourne Renegades Women Playing 11

Lizelle Lee, Josie Dooley, Amy Satterthwaite, Erin Fazackerley, Courtney Webb, Georgia Wareham, Sophie Molineux, Makinley Blows, Molly Strano, Rosemary Mair, Carly Leeson.

Sydney Thunder Women

Sydney Thunder has been unstoppable this WBBL so far and it is very difficult to see them trip up against the Melbourne Renegades. The biggest strength of the side has been its overseas stars, Samantha Bates and Heather Knight.

While Bates is the highest wicket-taker of the competition so far, Knight is the top run-scorer. Also, Knight is the second-highest wicket-taker so she is really contributing in every facet of the game.

Rachel Haynes scored 61 in the previous match and showed just how much depth Sydney Thunder has in its side. The likes of Tammy Beaumont, Sammy-Jo Johnson, and Rachel Trenaman can all score runs as well giving Sydney Thunder a clear superiority in the batting department.

Bates and Knight may be the ones taking the wickets but they are not the two biggest names in the bowling unit. Sammy-Jo Johnson and Shabnim Ismail are the out and out quicks that can bully the opposition.

They have been pretty good in the WBBL so far as has Lauren Smith.

Overall, Sydney Thunder has a very well-balanced team with its best players in great form. They are a better team than the Melbourne Renegades in every respect of the game.

MLRW vs SYTW Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first as the pitch may get a bit slower to bat on later.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather conditions in Sydney have improved and we are hopeful of getting an uninterrupted match to watch. The pitch at the Hurstville Oval is good for batting even though it is a bit on the slower side. There has been extravagant help for the bowlers so far at any of the venues and that should continue.

A score of around 130-140 should be seen as par batting first.

MLRW vs SYTW Betting Tips

We have no hesitation in backing Sydney Thunder for this match. This is the team that is going to give you the best chance of winning at admittedly average odds. Still, por returns are better than losing the bet and so stick with the favorite in this one.

Bet on Sydney Thunder to win.
