MLS vs HBH Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 22, 2019

MLS vs HBH Match Prediction - Dec 22, 2019

The Melbourne Stars won their first match thanks to a brilliant inning from Glenn Maxwell and will now take on the Hobart Hurricanes as the Big Bash 2019-20 season rolls on. The Hobart Hurricanes also won their previous match against the Sydney Sixers on a pitch that was terrible for T20 cricket.

The BBL has included a lot of non-traditional venues this season and that has meant that teams are playing on surfaces which can be a bit of a lottery. The venue for this match is another such one as the BBL carnival moves to the Ted Summerton Reserve in Moe, Victoria.

Neither the Stars nor the Hurricanes are going to be happy with their performance in the match they won and will look for improvement. Hopefully, the pitch is good enough to allow a high-quality contest.

Melbourne Stars vs Hobart Hurricanes BBL 09 is going to be played at the Ted Summerton Reserve, Moe, Victoria on the 22nd of December 2019.

MLS vs HBH Team Previews

Melbourne Stars

Glenn Maxwell was sold for well over a million dollars in the IPL auction and showed just why he is valued as one of the best T20 players in the world. He scored 83 off 39 deliveries with five sixes and helped the Stars to a total of 167.

The importance of that inning can be understood by looking at the performances of the other batsmen. No one else in the side was able to get more than 20 or score at a strike rate of over 130.

Glenn Maxwell took the Melbourne Stars to a total that was well above par and gave his bowlers plenty to work with. The batting lineup of the Melbourne Stars is pretty strong with players like Nic Maddinson, Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, Peter Handscomb and Ben Dunk in there as well.

We expect this lineup to do much better in the upcoming matches when it will get some good playing surfaces. For this match, though, they may be dependent on Glenn Maxwell once more.

The bowling suffered early at the hands of Tom Banton but then recovered nicely. A total of seven bowlers were used on the night with Haris Rauf and Adam Zampa being the pick of the bowlers. Zampa and Lamichhane are going to be the key bowlers in this match as well.

Hobart Hurricanes

There is no other batsman in the history of the BBL that has been more consistent than Darcy Short. He started off with a fifty in the opening match once again and ensured there was no need to worry about his form in the tournament.

He was the only player to pass 20 from his team and scored close to 50% of the total runs. The Hobart Hurricanes managed only 129 on a surface which promised much but eventually delivered very little.

Batsmen like David Miller, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, and George Bailey were left struggling because of the lack of pace. Like the Stars, the Hobart Hurricanes also have a strong batting lineup that is going to depend on Darcy Short to lead the way in this match.

The star of the show was Qais Ahmed with the ball. He picked up four wickets for just 12 runs in his four overs. He is a very good leg-spinner and we have no doubt he is going to be brought in whenever Glenn Maxwell comes to the crease. Leg-spinners have had a fair bit of success against Maxwell and so Qais Ahmed will fancy his chances in this contest.

James Faulkner, Clive Rose, Simon Milenko, Rilee Meredith, and Nathan Ellis all had a great day in the field. The surface was difficult to bat on and so the bowlers ended with some good figures. The bowling attack is a good one and is going to test the Melbourne Stars batting for sure.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather is expected to be perfect for cricket at the Ted Summerton Reserve, Moe, Victoria on match day. The pitch is another drop-in and that makes a bit wary. Most of the drop=in pitches tend to be quite slow and have very little bounce in them.

There is also no ‘square’ on which the ball speeds away and so the outfield tends to be sluggish as well. We think a score of around 150 is going to be pretty tough to chase down at this venue.

MLS vs HBH Dream11 Prediction

Dream11 Team and Dream11 Prediction for Melbourne Stars vs Hobart Hurricanes. This is another match where the run-scoring might be difficult due to the nature of the pitch. We have tried to include as many all-rounders as possible and stuck to the spinners in the bowling department. The choices for captain and vice-captain may be boring but the form of Short and Maxwell dictates this move be made.
