MS vs PZ Match Prediction - Feb 26, 2020

The PSL 2020 league table is looking very familiar right now to fans of the league. Three names that have traditionally dominated are in the top-half while three teams that seem to find new ways of losing every season are once again in the bottom half.

These are still early days, though. There is a lot of time left for teams to change their fortunes, for the better or worse, and assuming that everything will follow the script is just being foolhardy.

In this next match, the Multan Sultans are going to be taking on Peshawar Zalmi. Both the teams have played two matches and won one out of them. Multan Sultans lost their most recent match to Islamabad United while Peshawar Zalmi won their recent encounter against Quetta Gladiators.

Can a shift to Multan give the home team a boost?

Multan Sultans vs Peshawar Zalmi PSL 2020 is going to be played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on the 26th of February 2020.

MS vs PZ Team Previews

Multan Sultans

The Multan Sultans were quite impressive in their opening match against the Lahore Qalandars but seemed to regress into poor habits against Islamabad United. A half-decent batting effort was followed by a shambolic bowling performance where they failed to mount any sort of defense of their total.

Runs for Moeen Ali and Zeeshan Ashraf would have raised some hopes for better performances in the future but as a whole, there remain a few questions to answer. Shan Masood at the top of the order has been ineffective at getting the flying starts that T20 cricket needs.

He is also the captain of the team and that is going to put additional pressure on him.

Moeen Ali is very dangerous with the bat but his reliability in T20 cricket is not very good. It appears as if Moeen Ali either smacks 70 from 30 odd balls or gets out in regrettable manners. The lack of runs from Rilee Rossouw has also added to the batting problems that Multan Sultans are facing.

Peshawar Zalmi has a strong bowling attack and is going to ask tough questions from the Multan batsmen once again.

The bowling for the Multan Sultans seems to be stuck in the past. Mohammad Irfan, Sohail Tanvir, Imran Tahir, and Shahid Afridi were all greats of the T20 era that are no longer at their peak. Imran Tahir is very successful in T20 leagues around the world but is finding life a lot harder in Pakistan.

The batsmen need to step up and make life easier for the Multan Sultans bowling.

Peshawar Zalmi

There has been a bit of controversy around the Peshawar Zalmi bowling attack after their win against the Quetta Gladiators. Some questions have been raised about potential ball-tampering by Wahab Riaz since he has been able to get the ball to reverse even in T20 cricket.

Will that fire up the Pakistani quick even more for this match? We think so.

Wahab Riaz bowled a brilliant spell to turn the game decisively in favor of Peshawar Zalmi in the previous match. He picked up two wickets during his four overs and gave away just 21 runs. Hasan Ali bowled well, Mohammad Amir Khan was effective, and Darren Sammy also bowled his arm over to add another potential option in the team!

The star of the match, though, was Kamran Akmal.

Peshawar Zalmi chased down 148 in under 16 overs and there was just one batsman that score over 25 runs. Kamran Akmal remained not out with 101 runs to his name and immediately put his hat in the ring for a T20 World Cup call up.

Tom Banton continued to struggle, Shoaib Malik has not hit his straps just yet and Haider Ali has not shown the maturity to score massive runs either. This means that the team’s dependence on Kamran Akmal is a bit problematic.

Of course, players that we mentioned before can come good and there are Liam Livingstone, Darren Sammy, and Liam Dawson in the lower order as well.

Peshawar Zalmi has a good side with a strong batting lineup and a bowling attack that is striking form at the right time. There are a number of players that have been out of the Pakistan team due to different reasons and it looks like they are using PSL 2020 to make a statement.

Pitch and Conditions

There is no chance of rain that has been forecast in Multan on match day. The humidity is also set to be at a very comfortable level and so dew should not be a factor in the region. The pitch at Multan is a bit of an unknown because top-flight cricket has not been played here for a long time.

We are sure the PCB would have ensured a good playing surface is made available to the teams so that the exciting nature of matches in PSL 5 can continue.

Another surface where the batsmen make merry (also because of the pulled in ropes) looks likely.

MS vs PZ Betting Tips

We are going to back Peshawar Zalmi over the home team in this contest. The form of Kamran Akmal and the fire with which the fast-bowlers have been bowling make Peshawar Zalmi a very difficult team to play. They have also have two very hard-hitting English batsmen in their midst who have yet to show the Pakistani crowd what they are capable of.

Bet on Peshawar Zalmi to win.
