MS vs QG Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Mar 01, 2019

Things can change around quickly in the Pakistan Super League. Quetta Gladiators were the team to beat in the opening half of the completion but three quick losses have seen them slide down to third on the PSL 2019 standings. They are now perilously close to the teams below them and cannot afford too many more mistakes.

The Quetta Gladiators will be taking on the Multan Sultans in this match. With just two wins out of their seven matches so far, the Multan Sultans have struggled to get their act together. They are second from the bottom in the PSL 2019 league table and currently out of the qualification zone.

The Multan Sultans have a few match-winners in their side but have looked a bit behind the other teams overall.

Which one of these two sides will be able to register a win and change its fortunes around?

MS vs QG Team Previews

Multan Sultans

The Multan Sultans put up a better batting performance in their previous match but could not end up winning it. James Vince, Johnson Charles, and Shoaib Malik all got runs and helped the side to reach 172 in their 20 overs.

The main acceleration in the inning was provided by Johnson Charles who top-scored with 57 runs scored at a strike rate of 183.87. Vince smashed two sixes and looked in good touch while Dan Christian also struck a few big blows towards the end of the inning.

The Multan Sultans had promoted Umar Siddiq to open the batting in the last match, a move that was not very successful. For the side to overcome a strong Quetta Gladiators team, we think one of James Vince or Johnson Charles must get a really big score.

Without the pair of them, the side looks a bit light on batting firepower. There is not enough power in the lower middle-order and early wickets are going to be very hard to recover from.

The bowling for the Multan Sultans is good without being brilliant. Shahid Afridi has remained a brilliant bowler in T20 cricket and shows no sign of rust even years after his international retirement. Mohammad Irfan Jr., Junaid Khan, and Daniel Christian are all fine bowlers but they have not yet lit up the PSL 2019 with their exploits.

The Multan Sultans bowling attack looked short of ideas against Peshawar Zalmi and Kieron Pollard in particular. They were smashed all over the park in a forgetful performance. The captaincy of Shoaib Malik is also going to be under the scanner after some questionable bowling changes.

Quetta Gladiators

A sudden loss of form has hit the Quetta Gladiators hard and we cannot help but think that this is an excellent opportunity for them to get back to winning ways. The basics of the side are very well established. They have a strong batting lineup led by Shane Watson, Rilee Rossouw, and Umar Akmal.

Sarfaraz Ahmed has also shown some excellent batting form and hit an unbelievable six off the last ball with 5 runs required to help win a match for his side.

Ahsan Ali and Danish Aziz are two Pakistani youngsters that will be given a fairly large rope, we hope, to try and improve their game. Quetta Gladiators have struggled with their top-order has not performed but that is nothing unusual. We believe that the players in their lineup are far too good to not score runs for a very long time.

Rilee Rossouw is one player that we would watch out for in this match.

Bowling lineups have been pretty strong in PSL 2019 and the Quetta Gladiators are no different. Mohammad Hasnain is another young Pakistani fast bowler that is bowling rapidly and hurrying the batsmen. He is definitely a player for the future.

Sohail Tanvir, Fawad Ahmed, and Harry Gurney form other integral parts of the bowling attack. There is a lot of T20 bowling experience in this lineup. All three of the names that we mentioned are considered T20 specialists and ply their trade in this format around the world.

Their presence gives the Quetta Gladiators a lot of variation and the ability to adjust to different conditions.

We believe that the Quetta Gladiators may have hit a slump but they have the class to move back up the PSL 2019 standings.

Pitch and Conditions

The PSL 2019 match between the Multan Sultans and the Quetta Gladiators is going to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. There was some uncharacteristic rain around Dubai but the current forecast does not suggest any chance of rain on match day.

The Dubai pitch continues to get lower and slower as the matches continue. It is still good for batting, no doubt, but the ease with which the batsmen were scoring runs is disappearing and we are seeing a gradual decrease in total being scored.

A score of around 160 promises to be a par total in this match.

MS vs QG Betting Tips

The Multan Sultans are struggling in PSL 2019 and their side looks a bit short of the kind of quality the other teams possess. The Quetta Gladiators are also not in the best current form. The Gladiators did manage to win comfortably against the Sultans when the two teams meat earlier in PSL 2019.

Taking the stronger batting lineup into consideration as well as the T2 experience in its bowling attack, we think the Quetta Gladiators should emerge victorious.

Back the Quetta Gladiators to win.
