About the Match

Mumbai Indians may have surpassed Chennai Super Kings’ record of most games played in T20 format, but their problems in IPL persist. However, the franchise meets Rising Pune Supergiants who are lurching in dilemmas of their own.

Mumbai Indians:

Rohit Sharma’s team has played eight games so far and triumphed in four of them, which means they have a 50-50 chance of winning their next game, only if it were this simple. Mumbai hasn’t played in Pune in this season so far. We have witnessed a leakage of runs at Pune while Sharma’s inventory of batsmen, on the other hand, is slick and smart to gallop at this chance.

Kieron Pollard is another master blaster who threw out his best in the last game with a 17 ball 51, including six lofty sixes. The West Indian is only beginning to show what his wrath feels like once he is sober.

Skipper Sharma has been in a tremendous form since the beginning of the tournament, scoring four 50+ scores which include a blissful innings of 68 in the previous game against KKR. Given a pitch like Pune, where Mumbai Indians has not even played in IPL 9 so far, we can easily predict that runs will spurt in torrents.

Rising Pune Supergiants:

Everything that Dhoni has experimented so far in the tournament has gone wrong. Whether it is the nostalgia or the age factor, Dhoni hasn’t been the same captain for RPS as he was for the Chennai Super Kings. Maybe it is still too early to predict anything, however, with a mere two wins in as many as seven games, MS should have it figured by now.

His bowlers are not responding to the conditions, and neither are his batsmen. There is chaos in the camp while Coach, Stephen Fleming has indicated a self-destruction mentality has taken over the RPS squad. Dhoni XI has won only one out of its last six fixtures. The franchise does need a serious overhaul before the end of the season.

In the previous fixture against Gujarat Lions, RPS amassed a mammoth total of nearly 200 but the bowlers could not restrain the Gujarat batting lineup and gave away the match rather easily with ordinary death bowling.

Verdict:

With Mumbai Indians’ players picking up the much hyped sweet music and conditions of IPL, they are getting tougher. Considering the form of RPS squad, it would be extremely challenging to stop the Indians from scoring tons of runs. Mumbai is the hot favorite for this tie and probably going to have an easy win.

Winner: Mumbai Indians, 2.10 @ Bet on Mumbai Indians now
