Our Prediction: to win, N/A Bet on to win for Real Money
Having won only game so far, Royal Challengers Bangalore are at the bottom of the table with 2 points and will play against CSK, who are in the 2nd position with have 6 points from 4 matches, on 22nd April at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The hosts lost 2 consecutive matches but will be keen to make a comeback here; CSK on the other hand are proving to be among the consistent units in the tournament and could extend their winning streak on Wednesday.
Suffering defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians by 18 runs, the Royal Challengers of Bangalore failed to chase 210 runs after getting off to a bad start losing Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli early on. It was a hurricane knock from AB de Villiers, who scored 41 off 11 and David Wiese’s unbeaten 47 off 25 that gave them some hope but at the end other players failed to reach the target. David Wiese earlier took three wickets in the penultimate over but the rest failed to make a dent on the opponents. They also lost badly to SRH by 8 wickets at home after AB de Villiers had smashed 46 off 28 while Virat Kohli scored 41 off 37; in the end their efforts were not enough on a flat pitch. RCB is not good enough with the ball with only Yuzvendra Chahal taking wickets consistently while others fall short in restricting the opposition. Overall, there is enough fire-power in batting with the likes of Chris Gayle, the in-form AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli in the ranks but the bowling, on the other hand has looked a tad bit weak in the absence of Mitchell Starc. However, he will be available for the game against CSK and along with Yuzvendra Chahal, will try to fire away to turn the tide in the team’s favor.
Chennai Super Kings lost their last match to Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets after the batsmen succeeded in getting only 157 on board; although Dwayne Smith started well by blasting 40 off 29, things fell apart when McCullum threw his wicket away and Raina too followed soon. Dhoni and Bravo did a fairly good job to resurrect things and they went onto put a 91-run stand with Bravo posting his 4th fifty. However, the bowlers found it difficult to defend the paltry total against the Royals. Previously, after being set a target of 184 by Mumbai Indians, CSK had coasted to victory with 20 balls to spare thanks to a 109-run opening stand between Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum. The bowling looks sharp with Nehra, Bravo and Ashwin doing the job. Overall, CSK has clicked in all departments of the game so far in the tournament; the opening pair of Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith along with partnerships between Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni has led them superbly to wins so far. They have always performed under pressure and look good to win the upcoming match with ease.
Both sides have suffered defeat in their previous games and will be hungry to prevail over each other on Wednesday. Royal Challengers will be keen to regain the momentum while CSK would look to earn the number one position on the table. Royal Challengers Bangalore have the home advantage and therefore they look better placed to win the upcoming match.
