Our Prediction: Kolkata Knight Riders to win, 2.10 Bet on Kolkata Knight Riders to win for Real Money
IPL 9 may not be as exciting as its predecessors, undoubtedly, though, we have seen some of the best batting in the history of cricket so far. Virat Kohli and De Villiers have been a treat to watch, but T20 cricket is not just about batting. Long gone are the days when strengthening one department of the team could earn crucial wins.
On the contrary, RCB still seems alien to the idea of playing T20 cricket. Virat and AB may have stolen the limelight, but their team is lurching behind, accumulating only four points in as many as six games and sitting second to last on the table.
Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, has played well-balanced cricket and has secured four wins from seven games.
Nonetheless, KKR vs RCB is a match not to be missed. Let’s analyze who is more favorable for a win and who will bite the dust.
Since T20 cricket has become the language of cricket, many pundits have argued that Test batsmen are equally capable of performing in this format. We have witnessed some of the best batting in cricket when Virat and AB are at the crease together.
However, RCB has triumphed only in two out of its six IPL 9 fixtures so far. Despite the out of ordinary batting display AB-Kohli partnership has boasted, the Royal Challengers have lost most of their games, succumbing to conditions and at other times, just not playing balanced cricket.
Virat scored a century against Gujarat Lions but all for nothing after they lost to Gujarat Lions miserably. The Bangalore-based franchise has batted first in five of its six fixtures, which tells a bunch about how much the Challengers are relying on their batting strength.
If Kohli XI is to get to winning ways, it must start trusting the overall squad and play flexibly. So far, we have not seen that attitude from RCB. Nonetheless, out of the three fixtures RCB has played in front of home crowd, it has triumphed twice.
KKR may not have big names in their batting lineup, but they are a well-balanced and a quality side. Gautam Gambhir XI secures the third spot on the points table at the moment, winning four out of its seven fixtures.
Since acquiring Narine, the Knight Riders boast a variety of threats through their in-form batting lineup and a quality bowling attack. All-rounder, Andre Russell played a key role in the success of KKR so far in the tournament, making the bat and bowl talk on the pitch. Although Bangalore is a batting paradise, KKR’s bowling supremacy can trouble the RCB batsmen. The fact is evident from Riders’ performance against Pune Supergiants in Pune, a good batting surface, where they restricted Dhoni XI to a mere 160 runs and chased it down with three balls to go.
Knight Riders’ balance and the Challengers’ dependency on batting diverts the game in favor of KKR. It might be a game high on runs as it usually is whenever and wherever RCB plays, but KKR will get the better of RCB because of the balance factor and the lack of experience element in the RCB lineup.
