RR vs KKR Match Prediction - Apr 07, 2019

These are still early days in the Indian Premier League and we have already seen a lot of twists and turns. Royal Challengers Bangalore were once again on the receiving end of the fate as they lost a match from where most of the teams would have won with considerable ease. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals bounced back to the winnings ways with a dominating win over the same side, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and are currently lying at the second-last position from the bottom. They'll be looking to rise in the ladder when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their upcoming fixture at Sawai Maan Singh Stadium, Jaipur. Considering the form KKR are in, it's not going to be easy for the Royals. However, they have a superb history at this venue and we expect a cracker of a contest in the upcoming game.

RR vs KKR Team Previews

Rajasthan Royals

With a majority of the contingent of their overseas players set to fly back home in the last leg of the group stage, it is imperative for the Royals to accumulate as many points as possible early in the tournament. They've, however, been unsuccessful in doing so up until now and really need to kick on from here.

Rajasthan Royals are currently struggling to get their bowling combination right and with Andre Russell's threat looming large, they just cannot afford to take a step wrong in their next game. Barring Shreyas Gopal, who has shown tremendous control over his leg-spinners, all their bowlers - local and overseas, have been belted across the boundary in almost all the matches.

To add to Rajasthan Royals' worries, Andre Russell is yet to be dismissed by the Blues since their return to the tournament. Jaydev Unadkat's dip in the form began with Russell's assault on him in the previous edition of the tournament and although Unadkat is unlikely to play in the upcoming encounter, it certainly does limit RR as far as bowling options are concerned. The contest between Jofra Archer and Andre Russell will be one exciting one to watch and considering Archer's ability to bowl accurate yorkers, he will be the perfect candidate to neutralize the Russell threat.

Just like their bowling, their batting too appears to be a little fragile. Their middle order - which is as explosive as it can get on paper hasn't been able to finish games yet. However, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Ajinkya Rahane have looked fluent and a lot will depend on their performance in the upcoming fixture.

Rajasthan Royals Playing 11

Ajinkya Rahane, Jos Buttler, Steven Smith, RA Tripathi, BA Stokes, Prashant Chopra, K Gowtham, Jofra Chioke Archer, S Gopal, DS Kulkarni, Sudhesan Midhun.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Just like Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders have plenty of issues to address. Except for Nitish Rana and Andre Russell, none of their top-order batsmen have been consistent enough and in most of the matches, they've needed Andre Russell to play a blinder to bail them out.

Apart from one fifty, Dinesh Karthik has struggled to close out games and it is one of the biggest reason to include Shubham Gill in their batting lineup. In addition to their inconsistent batting, their bowling has struggled to contain batsmen in the death overs.

Prasidh Krishna and Lokie Ferguson have been expensive and other options pose too much of risk to be given a chance. Having said that, the spin trio of Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, and Piyush Chawla pose a bigger threat as compared to the Royals' counterpart.

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently sitting pretty at the second spot in the points table and that is largely due to Russell's incredible hitting in almost all the matches. They appear to be a little over-reliant on Andre Russell, but that has been working for them so they wouldn't really be too concerned.

Kolkata Knight Riders Playing 11

Chris Lynn, SP Narine, RV Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill, Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Harry Gurney, Prasidh Krishna.

RR vs KKR Toss Prediction

With dew likely to play a big part in the second innings and the ball likely to come onto the bat far more better, the team winning the toss will look to field first.

Pitch and Conditions

These are still early months of the year and although this is an evening game, the players are definitely going to feel the Jaipur heat. The temperatures during the match will hover around 37 degrees. Over the course of last five games, toss hasn't really had an impact as the team batting first has won three out and the team batting second has won two. However, a fair amount of runs have been scored here in those matches with the average first innings total of those matches just a notch below 170. Dew is likely to have a big impact today and the team batting first will be looking to put at least 185 runs on the board.

RR vs KKR Dream11 Prediction

Andre Russell is without a doubt the most valuable player in this edition of Indian Premier League thus far. Regardless of his high cost, he will be the first pick for most Dream 11 sides and it is the same for us as well.

Jos Buttler bats higher up the order whereas Dinesh Karthik comes in to bat when most of the deliveries have been played. Additionally, Buttler is in splendid touch with the bat and is our choice for the wicket-keeper slot. Considering the above-mentioned factors, he is also the captain of our Dream11 team.

Lynn did particularly well in the last match and considering that the surface of Jaipur will allow the ball to come on the bat which will suit Lynn's play style. It was a tough decision to pick between Steven Smith and Sanju Samson, but with the latter likely to bat higher up the order, he is our pick for the other batsman.

Shreyas Gopal, Dhaval Kulkarni, and Jofra Archer have been the three Royals' best bowlers and do not really cost many credits. Along with them, Piyush Chawla makes it into our team. Check out our complete Dream 11 lineup below:

RR vs KKR Betting Tips

Both the sides will be brimming with confidence after registering strong wins in their respecting matches. While it was easy-peasy for Rajasthan Royals all throughout against the Challengers, Kolkata Knight Riders came from an impossible situation to register a win with five balls to spare. Each side has its own issues to address and it will be interesting to see how they go about it. Jaipur has been a fortress for the Royals and considering that and the form Jos Buttler is in, we think that the Royals will script an upset to emerge on top in this upcoming fixture.
