SHS vs RKS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 25, 2019

The Sylhet Sixers and the Rajshahi Kings suffered defeats in their previous games. The Sylhet Sixers were up against the Khulna Titans who was at the bottom of the BPL League table at that point in time. The fact that the Sylhet Sixers were pretty convincingly trounced in that game would not have done too much good to the confidence of the side.

The Rajshahi Kings were up against the Chittagong Vikings who have been the form side of the tournament. The Rajshahi Kings put up a creditable performance and even though they lost the match, the Kings can still take some solace from their performance.

Never the less, the Sylhet Sixers and the Rajshahi Kings are two of the three bottom-placed sides in the Bangladesh Premier League right now, and so both teams would be hoping to exploit the other's weaknesses.

SHS vs RKS Team Previews

Sylhet Sixers

The Sylhet Sixers bowled pretty well in their match against the Khulna Titans but once again fell back to bad habits during their batting stint. It was a performance that showed the limitations of the side in a clear fashion and we think the Sylhet Sixers are going to struggle to be able to make an impact moving forward.

Alok Kapali picked up four wickets in the last match, Mohammad Nawaz picked up two and Taski Ahmed picked up two wickets as well. The three were the best bowlers for the Sylhet Sixers in the previous match and that is an excellent sign for the side.

Considering the fact that their other two bowlers are former internationals, the Sylhet Sixers bowling lineup is looking quite decent. Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Irfan are both bowlers that have been excellent in T20 cricket until very recently.

It is just a matter of time before they strike form and that would make the Sylhet SIxers quite formidable in the bowling department.

The problems with the batting, though, are much deeper rooted. David Warner is no longer going to be a part of the Bangladesh Premier League and the other batsmen have fared very poorly. Liton Das is having one of his worst seasons of the BPL while Sabbir Rahman has been very inconsistent.

Nicholas Pooran is the only player in this lineup that looks like a world class TR20 batsman. He has been scoring runs consistently and at a very good strike rate but he comes in too late to be able to have a lasting impact on the match.

Nicholas Pooran has opened the batting for Caribbean Premier League side and maybe that is where he should be given an opportunity in the BPL as well.

Sylhet Sixers Playing 11

Alok Kapali, Nicholas Pooran, S Tanvir, Mohammad Nawaz, JJ Roy, Liton Das, Sabbir Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Afif Hossain, Ebadat Hossain, Nabil Samad.

Rajshahi Kings

The Rajshahi Kings must be thrilled at the form that Laurie Evans has displayed in the last few games. He followed up a brilliant hundred with another fantastic inning of 74 from just 56 deliveries. He has been playing a lone hand for the Rajshahi Kings batting, though.

Soumya Sarkar failed to contribute once again and even though there were a few handy contributions from Ryan ten Doeschate and Christiaan Jonker, the total they reached was barely par.

The Rajshahi Kings have been struggling with their batting throughout the Bangladesh Premier League. In most T20 leagues, it is often the bowling quality that seems to limit sides but the opposite is true for the BPL.

The Bangladeshi batsmen that played the last match for the Rajshahi Kings were Soumya Sarkar, Marshall Ayub, Zakir Hasan, and Mihidy Hasan (who has batted at three for much of the tournament). None of these batsmen are going to scare the opposition bowlers and only Soumya Sarkar is someone with international experience.

The onus of scoring runs against a pretty handy Sylhet Sixers attack is going to go on the international players. Ryan ten Doeschate seems to be in good form and can be backed as top-scorer in this match.

The bowling unit for the Rajshahi Kings is quite good. Mihidy Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Qais Ahmad, Arafat Sunny, and Kamrul Islam are all fine bowlers. Mustafizur Rahman was a bit expensive in the last match but should be able to put in a better display against the weak Sylhet Sixers batting.

Qais Ahmed also has been bowling pretty well without too much reward and could be a good bet to back as the top wicket-taker in this match.

Rajshahi Kings Playing 11

Mehidy Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mustafizur Rahman, Zakir Hasan, Fazle Mahmud, A Sunny, Kamrul Islam, S Prasanna, Christiaan Jonker, Laurie Evans, RN ten Doeschate.

Pitch and Conditions

The Bangladesh Premier League T20 match between the Sylhet Sixers and the Rajshahi Kings is going to be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. The weather forecast is excellent and we should not have any interruptions to worry about.

The pitch at the stadium is considered to be decent for batting but it will offer some help to the spinners like every other surface in the country. A score of around 140 should be considered par at the venue.

SHS vs RKS Betting Tips

These are two flawed teams taking on each other. The results may not suggest so but we really think there is not too much difference in these sides. They have a decent bowling lineup and a batting which is very inconsistent. The side which bats better on the day is going to come out tops. We think it could be the Sylhet Sixers turn to come up trumps.

Back the Sylhet Sixers to win.
