SRH vs RR Match Prediction - Mar 29, 2019

IPL 2019 has got off to an excellent start with some very exciting matches being played out in the first week. Two of the teams that were right in the thick of it are going to be playing against each other in this match. Sunrisers Hyderabad are going to be taking on the Rajasthan Royals as both teams look to get their first points on the board.

Tough losses for both the sides would have been disappointing but they would do well to remember they lost from winning positions. There are no weak teams in the Indian Premier League and there are plenty of match-winners on both sides of the aisle in this match as well. Which side will be the one to walk away winners? Let’s try and find out.

SRH vs RR Team Previews

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Here were not too many things that the Sunrisers Hyderabad side did wrong in their previous match. We thought that their selections were spot-on and that their tactics seemed to be working before they were defeated by Andre Russell’s powerful batting.

David Warner marked his return to the IPL with a fluent 85 and showed why he is going to walk into Australia’s ICC World Cup 2019 squad. He loves playing in the IPL and is one of the most successful batsmen ever in the tournament’s history.

Him getting a good start is very good news for the Sunrisers. Jonny Bairstow and Vijay Shankar also got some valuable runs while Yusuf Pathan, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, and Shakib AlL Hasan did not get a chance to do anything great with the bat.

Kane Williamson is the obvious name missing from this list and we are unsure if he is going to be available for the upcoming match either due to his injury.

SRH lost the previous match because of its bowling and that is not something that happens quite often. An excellent bowling attack with players like Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Shakib Al Hasan, Sandeep Sharma, and Siddharth Kaul would have backed itself to defend 54 off the last 18 balls.

That was not something that happened and we expect SRH to hit back strongly in this match.

Rashid Khan is going to be extremely hard to hit like always but the others will have to make improvements to their performances.

Overall, SRH is a pretty well-rounded side with very few weaknesses.

Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals were furious with their defeat against the Kings XI Punjab in their opening match. The Royals were cruising to a victory before the controversial run-out of Jos Buttler derailed their chase.

There is nothing to be gained from dwelling on the controversy now and the Rajasthan Royals must recover swiftly.

There were a few positives and a few concerns for the Rajasthan Royals look into after their first match.

Ben Stokes went for 48 runs from his four overs while Jaidev Unadkat gave away 44 runs in his three. They were both at the receiving end of a Gayle storm and that can end up ruining bowling figures in a hurry.

Jofra Archer in the undoubted trump card in the Rajasthan Royals bowling attack but the other players have to take responsibility as well. Ben Stokes and Jaidev Unadkat were the most expensive purchases for the team and so the team management would love to see them perform as per expectations.

Still, a bowling attack that has Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaidev Unadkat, K Gowtham, Jofra Archer, and Ben Stokes, should do well on most days.

Jos Buttler was the star of the batting for the Royals in the previous match. He made 69 off 43 balls before being makaded by Ashwin. All the other top-order batsmen got starts but could not go on to convert them into bigger scores.

The batting is appearing to be a bit vulnerable in this Rajasthan side. There is too much dependence on Jos Buttler to get the runs and if he gets out early, things could go down south very quickly. Rahane is also not the player he once was while Rahul Tripathi is always an enigma to us.

Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, and Jos Buttler will have to do most of the work in this team.

Rajasthan Royals Playing 11

Ajinkya Rahane, Jos Buttler, SV Samson, Steven Smith, BA Stokes, RA Tripathi, K Gowtham, Jofra Chioke Archer, JD Unadkat, S Gopal, DS Kulkarni.

Pitch and Conditions

The IPL 2019 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals is going to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad. The weather is expected to be very good for cricket in Hyderabad on match day and we don’t see any weather-related interruptions stopping the match.

The pitch in Hyderabad is very flat and excellent for batting. It usually has a decent amount of pace and bounce in it as well which can make for some very high scoring matches.

A score of around 170-180 could be considered par for the surface.

SRH vs RR Dream11 Prediction

Picking the Dream 11 team for SRH vs RR required a combination of big-name favorites with some lesser known value players to balance things out. Here is what we came up with!

Wicket Keeper: The choice for the wicketkeeper is pretty tough. Jos Buttler is one of the best T20 players going around but Jonny Bairstow is no slouch either. Both the players open the batting and so have the best chance of getting a big total. Considering the T20 pedigree of Buttler, we have decided to stick with him.

Batsmen: David Warner, Ajinkya Rahane, and Sanju Samson are the three batsmen we are picking for this IPL 2019 match. Warner is an IPL legend and hungry for runs while Sanju Samson showed some good touch either. Picking Ajinkya Rahane over players like Steve Smith is a risk but we believe he is due a big score and could take advantage of the excellent batting conditions in Hyderabad.

All-rounders: This is where we have decided to splurge the most points available. Ben Stokes, Shakib Al Hasan, and Vijay Shankar are all among the highest priced players in the category but we believe they are worth it. Stokes and Shakib are going to be primary bowlers for sure while Vikay Shankar is going to bat in thje top-order. All three players also have the capability of contributing in their other discipline as well.

Bowlers: Having three quality all-rounders has allowed us to pick some value players in this category. Shreyas Gopal and Sandeep Sharma are genuine wicket-takers for their side. Sandeep Sharma did not get the new ball while Shreyas Gopal just bowled one over in the previous match. Both of them have the abiltiy to outperform expectations. Rashid Khan and Jofra Archers are the two high-quality bowlers rounding out our side.

Captain: David Warner because of his good form and ability to score centuries

Vice Captain: Ajinkya Rahane because we think he is going to be less owned and could get a big score in this match.

SRH vs RR Betting Tips

These are two evenly matched sides with very dangerous players. The Rajasthan Royals have the better overseas players but the Sunrisers Hyderabad appear to have the better team balance. They are also playing at home in conditions which they are very familiar with. We also think that David Warner is going to make his return to Hyderabad special and get a big score.

Back the Sunrisers Hyderabad to win.
