SUR vs GLA Match Prediction - Jul 25, 2019

Although these are still early days in the Vitality T20 Blast 2019, Surrey and Glamorgan will be itching to get off the mark with the win in their next fixtures, both having been winless in their two respective matches. Surrey have lost both their games while Glamorgan lost their first match and their second match was abandoned due to rain. Both the sides are currently placed near the bottom of the table and win here should lift the winner up to the middle part of the points table. The two sides are set to face each other off on Thursday, July 25th, at the iconic venue of Kia Oval, London. With both sides itching to get out of the bottom of the pit, we expect them both to come out all guns blazing and put their best foot forward in the upcoming fixture.

SUR vs GLA Team Previews

Surrey

Surrey have arguably been the worst side of the tournament not only because of the two losses they dealt with, but also the manner in which they came. They've conceded a total of 435 runs in just 35 overs in their two matches combined, against Middlesex and Essex. While their batting did reasonably well on both the occasions, their bowling left their batsmen with too much to do on both the occasions.

One of the Curran brothers is out on national duty with England playing Ireland which has undoubtedly taken a toll, albeit only a little, on their balance. Despite the presence of Tom Curran, Liam Plunkett, and Imran Tahir in their bowling department, it's been surprising the way they've been thrashed all around the park in their two matches. They have a pretty experienced unit along with some good players sitting on the bench and are expected to bounce back sooner rather than later.

Ireland's test against England have also hurt them in the batting department as well as Rory Burns; their second opener is also not available. This has made the role of Aaron Finch a lot more vital at the top. While Finch has done well up until now, the fans will be hoping for him to play a big innings and carry his side himself considering their poor bowling performance up until now.

Surrey Playing 11

Will Jacks, Aaron Finch, Mark Stoneman, Ollie Pope, Rikki Clarke, Tom Curran, Jordan Clark, LE Plunkett, Jade Dernbach, Gareth Batty, Imran Tahir.

Glamorgan

In the two matches played so far, Glamorgan have shown a lot of inconsistency with the bat. They scored a pretty good total of over 180 in their opening fixture, but found themselves in a spot of bother against Gloucestershire before the rain arrived.

In their first match against Somerset, their openers got them into a terrific position before their middle order, barring Colin Ingram, failed to get going and they ended up scoring a total which was a lot less than they should have ended up scoring. The lack of depth and fire-power in their middle-order was once again apparent in their second match where they collapsed to 96 for eight before the rain arrived.

The unavailability of their star players has been a significant concern for them up until now, and while Mitchell Marsh continues to be out of contention, the availability of Fakhar Zaman should boost their batting strength and consequently the confidence at the top of the order. In the two matches gone so far, they appear to be a little too over-reliant on their skipper, Colin Ingram, to do that heavy-hitting, and desperately need someone to assist him at the top. If Fakhar Zaman or anyone else for that matter can do that job, things will get a lot more relaxed for Ingram, and then this side could prove to be a tough team to deal with.

Glamorgan Playing 11

SUR vs GLA Betting Tips

It's been a terrible start for both the sides in the tournament so far, and they both will be desperate to get two crucial points in the upcoming fixture. With two hard drubbings in their last two matches, Surrey will be low on confidence. Glamorgan, on the other hand, did exceptionally poorly with the bat in their respective encounters. Glamorgan appear to be a little too over-dependent on Colin Ingram to do the damage with the bat which might not prove to be enough even against a struggling Surrey bowling attack. Surrey are playing at home, and the support of the home crowd could very well prove to be the much-needed tonic for them. Considering the two sides on paper, their form, and the other factors mentioned above, Surrey go in as firm favorites to win the upcoming fixture.
