SYTW vs SYDW Match Prediction - Nov 18, 2020

This next WBBL 2020 match between Sydney Thunder and the Sydney Sixers is the one that we are most looking forward to. Sydney Thunder is in fourth place at the moment and barely in the qualification zone. It has a number of teams nipping at its heels and so must try to win this match at all costs.

The Sydney Sixers started WBBL 2020 with four wins in a row but have since lost their next five matches. As a result, they are now at 6th place in the standings and need to pull off something special to just make the playoffs.

Can Sydney Thunder take advantage of a floundering Sydney Sixers lineup and end their WBBL hopes?

Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney on the 18th of November 2020.

SYTW vs SYDW Team Previews

Sydney Thunder Women

Heather Knight was the player that made Sydney Thunder so difficult to beat in the first half of the tournament and she is the one that is finding her touch once more. She scored 58 not out off just 32 deliveries to seal a potentially tricky chase against the Melbourne Renegades in the previous match.

She was helped by Rachel Haynes, another player that has been excellent for the Sydney Sixers this season.

Tammy Beaumont has been getting starts but is not converting them and the experiment to send Rachel Trenaman up the order was not very successful. The dependence of the Sydney Thunder on Heather Knight is something that we are concerned about.

We came into this WBBL thinking that Sydney Thunder had one of the best bowling attacks and that has held up. Shabnim Ismail, Samantha Bates, Sammy-Jo Johnson, and Hannah Darlington are all excellent with the ball and keep attacking the opposition. Heather Knight can easily bowl her four overs as needed too.

Sydney Sixers Women

Is it time for a major overhaul at the Sydney Sixers? Has the WBBL dynasty run its course and is just a bit tired to compete? These are the sort of questions that everyone is going to ask now that the Sydney Sixers are spiraling out of contention.

They are still not completely out of it, though.

A win here will put them back in contention and leave their fate in their own hands.

We all know that Alyssa Healy and Elyse Perry are going to be the keys to their success, however, others like Erin Burns, Dane van Niekerk, and Marizanne Kapp need to step up. Now is the time otherwise the Sydney Sixers are going to fold every time their openers get out cheaply.

Kapp and Perry have been very good with the ball but the same cannot be said for Stella Campbell. The fast bowler started with promise but has been way too expensive in recent matches.

A concerted effort from every one of the Sydney Sixers team is required.

SYTW vs SYDW Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. This is a high-pressure game for both teams and getting runs on the board is going to be important. We don’t think any team is willingly going to chase in this contest.

Pitch and Conditions

The Sydney Showground Stadium promises to serve up another good batting surface where the batter can score runs freely. This is going to be the second match of the day and so we could see a bit of rough develop near the end.

A score of around 135-140 should be seen as par batting first.

SYTW vs SYDW Betting Tips

We are going to back the Sydney Sixers to come good in this match. Big matches are the time when experience becomes invaluable and to have the kind of superstars that the Sixers do is going to pay off. Sydney Thunder is a bit too dependent on Heather Knight and that makes us nervous.

Bet on the Sydney Sixers to win.
