IND vs AUS Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Mar 02, 2019

Unlike expected, Australia completely dominated India in the recently concluded T20I series between the two nations. With World Cup's countdown now showing the days to go in double digits, it is high time for both the sides to get their combinations right. India and Australia will lock horns in the first of the five-match ODI series which is to be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 2nd March. While India will be left with Indian Premier League to fine tune their combinations after this series, Australia have an ODI series coming up at Dubai against Pakistan. Having said that, both the sides will be looking to at least lock their first playing eleven for the World Cup before the series end.

IND vs AUS Team Previews

India

Even though India ended up on the wrong side of the result of the recently concluded T20I series, they wouldn't really be too worried about that. They had plenty of positives to take from the series which is likely to help them nail down the perfect combination for the ICC World Cup 2019.

Taking nothing away from the Australians, India did not really field their full-strength squad in the T20Is. India's bowling performed poorly with everyone apart from Jasprit Bumrah leaking runs. Mohammad Shami will return to the fold which will bolster the Indian bowling attack to a great extent.

The performances of KL Rahul and Vijay Shankar in the build-up to the ODI series have been fantastic. KL Rahul found his form back with good knocks in the domestic circuit followed by an impressive show in the T20s. He's likely to make the World Cup squad as a reserve opener and will be getting a lot of game-time in the upcoming ODI series. Vijay Shankar, although did pretty well with the bat in the tour against New Zealand and possess excellent fielding skills and if he manages to deliver even a little with the ball, he will be a valuable asset for the team in England.

All in all, the Indian unit is looking a lot more balanced as compared to what they looked like in the T20Is, largely due to their bolstered bowling attack. As was the case in the T20Is, India won't really be as easy to get past. There will be a couple of experiments, but with momentum likely to play a key role, we don't expect them to make too many changes. Regardless of that, beating India in India is a task in itself and it won't be easy for Australians this time as well.

India Playing 11

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, V Kohli, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni, V Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, JJ Bumrah.

Australia

Things would be a lot different had Steven Smith and David Warner been part of their squad. However, their ban is to be lifted only by the end of this Month, after the series.

Unlike India, Australia have the five more ODIs - against Pakistan to take a final call on the team that flies to England for the marquee event. However, the barring the absence of David Warner and Steven Smith, their squad for the World Cup is going to be pretty much the same as the one they are going to field here in India.

Even though Australian batting looks a little fragile on paper, they have a decent batting lineup. Glenn Maxwell played a special part in both Australian wins in the T20Is and made a strong case for himself batting at number three. Aaron Finch's form is definitely a cause of concern for the Aussies and he will be looking to gather some momentum in the ten possible matches to be played before the World Cup.

The tourists bat deep with the likes of Ashton Turner, Kane Richardson, and Pat Cummins available down the order. Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff did particularly well India tour Australia, but it is unlikely to be the case on India's surface where they will not get as much purchase of the surface. However, Adam Zampa, who did reasonably well in the T20Is, is likely to play a key role in the series ahead.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at Hyderabad generally favors the batsmen, which is evident by the average first innings total of 286 here. The temperatures throughout the day are likely to hover around 30 degrees with clouds playing hide and seek overhead. However, it is extremely unlikely for the rain to have an impact at any stage of the game. The team batting first will be looking to put at least 300-runs on the board.

IND vs AUS Betting Tips

The Australian win the T20s has certainly raised the expectations from them for the upcoming ODIs. For Indians, the loss could very well act as a wake-up call before the World Cup and they will be looking to iron out whatever the remaining wrinkles. With Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav likely to make a return to the playing eleven, Indian team looks a lot stronger than what they looked like in the shortest format of the game. They had the advantage of playing at home and with a strong batting lineup, they are better placed to emerge victorious in the upcoming encounter.
