RR vs RCB Match Prediction - Apr 02, 2019

Two matches. Two heavy defeats. That was the story for two teams who were languishing at the bottom of the table before their last respective encounters. While the story still remains for both the sides - Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, one of these teams will finally get off the mark when they meet other on 2nd April at Sawai Maan Singh Cricket Stadium, Jaipur. Up until now, we have seen some humdingers in the IPL and we expect the same in this upcoming battle between the two Royals of IPL.

RR vs RCB Team Previews

Rajasthan Royals

So close yet so far - This has been the fate for the Rajasthan Royals throughout the history of the Indian Premier League barring the inaugural edition and it has started on the same terms this time around as well.

Led by Ajinkya Rahane, the Royals haven't been able to get off the mark despite coming close on all three occasions. They were involved in arguably the wrong side of the controversy in the first match wherein Jos Buttler was mankaded by Ravichandran Ashwin which triggered a collapse as Rajasthan Royals ended up on the losing side after being in a position to dictate terms.

In their second game, it were Sanju Samson and skipper Ajinkya Rahane who set up the win for them as the former hit a terrific century and took Royals to an above par score. However, their bowling failed to defend the tall total with almost everyone was taken apart for runs.

In the third match, we saw their bowlers do terrifically well in the first half of Chennai Super Kings' innings, but their batsmen failed to capitalize on a surface where dew made it extremely hard to grip the ball.

Despite the three losses, there were plenty of positives for the Rajasthan Royals. Their top-order has shown some glimpses of brilliance with the bat with almost everyone contributing, albeit in different matches. While their bowling also seems to be doing decently, on the whole, the form of Jaydev Unadkat will certainly worry about the management. His slower balls were no longer a surprise for the batsmen and he was taken away for plenty whenever he has come onto bowl.

With five out of the eight Royals' overseas players set to leave in the first week of May, the importance of each point simply cannot be overstated. They've already lost three matches and will need to get back on track really quickly. In other words, they simply have to win the upcoming match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Right from the inception of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore are known for their power-packed, swashbuckling batting lineup. It is no different this time around as well and they certainly have a batting lineup that can chase or set any total.

Their bowling, however, has been listless so far in the tournament. After a poor batting display on a rank-turner in their opening match, RCB have failed to impress in any departments whatsoever. Just like their opponents in the upcoming fixture, they were on the receiving end of the controversy where Malinga's no-ball, which was the last delivery of the match, was not called by the umpire.

The single-dimension of their bowling was well and truly highlighted in their last encounter where Sunrisers Hyderabad smashed their bowlers to all parts of the ground and racked up 231 runs on the board, this year's highest. The 16-year old spinner is expected to be rested after the hammering he received in the last match. Although Australia's tour of UAE is done and dusted, it is highly unlikely that the players will join the RCB squad in the upcoming fixture.

All in all, there isn't a problem that RCB haven't faced in the competition yet. Their bowling has looked out of sorts and to add to their woes, their stronger suite, their batting, has failed to fire. Virat Kohli has already played three innings and is yet to get a big score under his belt - something that doesn't happen too often. They'd need a miracle to come out of the pit they've dug for themselves.

RR vs RCB Dream11 Prediction

It's not easy to pick players when there are plenty of options to choose from. On one hand, there is an array of in-form players like Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith and on the other hand, we have the likes of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli - who are impossible to not to pick.

Jos Buttler is in terrific form and despite his cost of 10.5 credits, he is our pick for the wicket-keeper slot. Also, considering RCB's poor bowling attack, he may very well end up playing a big knock.

We have picked Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers in the batting positions considering the form and impact they can have on the game and Moeen Ali for the all-rounder's slot.

Jofra Archer did extremely well in the last game and was only Royal bowler to be effective at the death against CSK. Alongside him, Shreyas Gopal and Dhaval Kulkarni form the bowling unit of our Dream11 team. Check out the complete team below and don't forget to see the updated version right after the toss.

Rajasthan Royals have done tremendously well this season one to emerge second-best in each of their outings. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore are way off from their best. Considering the recent form and the teams on paper, Rajasthan Royals are better-placed to emerge victorious in the upcoming match.
