Mountbet Review

Trustworthiness

Mountbet is still very new, which means it is difficult to gauge just how trustworthy and safe this betting site in India is. However, Betfair is a well-established and trusted brand, which is a good sign. We doubt that Betfair would conduct business with a betting site that is not trustworthy. They do have a reputation to uphold as well.

So, this affiliation alone gives us the confidence we need to recommend Mountbet and consider them a trustworthy brand. Of course, they do have to prove themselves regardless.

Since they are still a mostly unknown entity in the industry, there are few reviews available about them, though we have noticed some punters comments in forums, also wondering whether Mountbet is a good option if you want to use the Betfair exchange.

They seem to think that Mountbet is worth a shot, which is something we tend to agree with. They are only licensed in Curacao, though the Betkit tool that is used to bring you the services Mountbet provides, is licensed on the Isle of Man, which gives us more confidence.

Mountbet does give the impression that they take security and fairness seriously, though you can always opt to test them thoroughly first and not throw all your money at them right away.

Cricket betting and other sports

Mountbet does not provide a traditional sportsbook. They offer Betfair’s betting exchange facilities, which means you don’t get the usual range of sports you may find elsewhere. It is an interesting selection, however.

When you click on “Sports Betting” on their homepage, the drop-down menu shows you all the options available, which include soccer, tennis, cricket, horse racing, basketball, greyhound racing, golf, darts, motor sports and eSports.

Cricket betting is our focus and at the time of our review, you were able to bet on the following events:

  • Bangladesh Premier League
  • ICC U19 World Cup
  • International Twenty20 Matches
  • One Day Internationals
  • Pakistan Super League
  • Ford Trophy

This is a solid selection, though as is usually the case, there are far fewer markets available than at traditional sportsbooks. Mostly, we found outright bets, so for other markets you will have to look at a traditional betting site. Betting exchanges do have their limitations, though the odds are generally unbeatable and Mountbet advertises competitive commission rates.

When you browse the various sports you can bet on, you will generally see the live and upcoming events first and future events follow later.

We do like the selection of sports to bet on here, which is more than we have seen at other betting exchanges, even those powered by Betfair as well. Mountbet clearly knows what their customers want.

Games and more

Mountbet hosts a casino with live and regular table games as well. The slots section is still new and seems to have been a later addition.

When you click on either section, you will be able to read through information about the casino and slot games, focussing on fairness and frequently asked questions, but not providing access to the games.

This is rather annoying as we have no idea which providers are available at Mountbet and how their casino is actually organised. Whilst it is useful to get some advance information, getting an actual look at the casino would be even more useful. It seems rather inexplicable as to why this is not possible.

From what we gather, there are over 500 games available at the casino. This includes not just slots but also other popular casino games, live table games and Andar Bahar as well as Teen Patti options.

Progressive jackpot slots are also mentioned, but we have no idea why games that might entail. So, whilst there is a host of information available, you won’t be able to check out the games until you join the site, which is not a great way to showcase your products.

Promotions and bonuses

There isn’t an awful lot going on when it comes to promotions or bonuses at Mountbet, but there is a small welcome offers that bettors might enjoy.

When you sign up at Mountbet using code FREE20, you then only have to make a new deposit of at least €20 and place a bet of that amount on odds of 1.6 or higher to receive a €20 free bet. You have 30 days after registration to claim this offer and must use one of the currently available deposit methods, which includes cryptocurrencies.

If you place a bet on a winner market, it won’t count towards claiming this bonus. Cashed out or voided bets obviously don’t count either.

Outside of that, there was one other promotion available at the time of our review, which offered only 1% commission on soccer for selected markets on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Mountbet promises other promotions and bonuses on a regular basis, which include deposit bonuses, risk-free bets and many other things. You will just have to keep checking in to see what might be available.

Banking options

Mountbet offers a separate page for payment methods, which is always great to see. It does not offer a lot of details, but you will find the available payment options here, which include:

  • Bank transfer
  • AstroPay
  • MuchBetter
  • Jeton

Additionally, just about all cryptocurrencies were also available at Mountbet, which is great if you dabble in different cryptos.

According to the payments page, further deposit methods will soon become available for different countries. For Indian customers, NetBanking, PhonePe and UPI payments are on the list, which means you should soon be able to make deposits using these options as well.

From what we have learned through their FAQs, the only available fiat currency to deposit in is EUR right now. We certainly hope that Indian Rupees will be accepted in the future as well, though no mention was made suggesting as much.

Most betting sites welcoming Indian customers do end up offering deposits and withdrawals in INR eventually, however.

We couldn’t find information about withdrawal limits, though withdrawal fees appear to be in place. Be sure to check in advance if this is something that worries you.

Also, a KYC process will be conducted once you incur gross losses or settlements of €2,000 within 30 days.

Support

If you have questions about payments, withdrawals, the KYC process or anything else, you can always contact the customer support team at Mountbet. It is available 24/7 via live chat, email or social media channels.

You can also browse the FAQ section or use the wealth of information provided around the website.

Mountbet promises to deliver a professional customer service, which should reply quickly and deal with any issues or questions you may have in a satisfactory manner.

Software

Mountbet calls itself the home of sports betting, which is a bold claim indeed. Given that they are powered by Betfair, you will find their betting exchange quite familiar if you have ever used Betfair before.

It is simple, easy to use, but slightly old-fashioned.

Mountbet feels a little like a work in progress. They provide a lot of information, which basically means walls of text for you to read through. You won’t be able to test their products until you have joined, however, which means we couldn’t even look at the casino and therefore can’t really give you further details about their design or software.

This is a little bothersome as we would really have liked to give them a proper look but signing up shouldn’t be the way to do that. Open access would be much appreciated, but it isn’t available at this time.

We do know that their site is fully mobile compatible, so if you prefer to place your bets on the go, you will easily be able to do so. A mobile app is not currently available, though.

Summary

What can we say about Mountbet? It is great to be able to use the Betfair platform through Mountbet, especially since betting at an exchange is fun and has a few interesting advantages. Punters from India should be thrilled about this option.

Mountbet makes a lot of promises and things certainly look good for the most part. But it is unfortunate that we can’t access the casino at all. And we also want to see INR as one of the available currencies at this site. At least, further payment methods are coming soon, which we appreciate as it will make betting for Indian punters much more convenient here.

If you’re curious about using them, be sure to consider the shortcomings we have found before signing up. And if you do have further questions, contact their customer service team. Beyond that, there is no reason to worry about what Mountbet has to offer and you can certainly give them a try.
