Shangri La Review
The Shangri La Live is licensed in Curacao, of course. This is not our preferred gambling license, as the controls are less strict that elsewhere and players are somewhat at a disadvantage when they have complaints about a betting site.
As such, we tend to also look at other reviews, player comments and complaints about a betting site or online casino on the Internet.
In the case of the Shangri La Live, complaints are nowhere to be found. Nothing substantial, except some player comments about services or facilities they didn’t like. But we couldn’t find anything along the lines of limited players or withheld withdrawals. That’s definitely good news for anyone considering playing there.
That said, the Shangri La doesn’t seem to have much of a reputation one way or another. Perhaps they simply don’t have that many players or they really are that trustworthy.
If you have any doubt at all, just take it easy. Sign up, try out their betting services, maybe use the welcome bonus, play around a little bit, make a withdrawal, see how you like it. There is no reason to not give them a try.
Cricket betting and other sports
Players logging in from India will find cricket as one of the main items in the menu. You can therefore easily access all the cricket betting markets by clicking here.
Depending on the time of year and which events are on, you’re likely to have the major cricket events covered here. At the time of our review, there were several markets available for:
- Road Safety World Series
- Marsh One Day Cup
- Indian Premier League
Be aware that this is a small sportsbook and betting options are considerably more limited than at bigger international sportsbook. You get to place some decent bets at competitive odds, but don’t expect to be able to bet on every possible event that may occur during a match.
A quick glance at all the other sports and events available for betting at the Shangri La Live seems to confirm that there are far fewer markets available here than elsewhere. But if you like simple and straightforward betting, simply betting on the match winner or who wins the toss, you’ll be able to do that at this sportsbook as well.
They do offer a wide variety of sports to bet on, which goes in their favour, even if there are fewer betting options. You can bet on football, tennis, table tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, horse racing, various e-Sports, snooker, darts and much more.
Live betting is also available, of course, but here you will also find far fewer markets than elsewhere. It does seem as if the Shangri La Live wants to keep betting simple and is more aimed at casual punters.
Games and more
Besides offering a sportsbook, they also have plenty of online casino gaming available. You’ll find traditional casino games, including slots, roulette, baccarat, blackjack and casino poker here. There is a separate section for live casino games, for scratch cards and even for video poker, which many will appreciate.
There are sensible filters when you want to sort through the various games and you can even check out the games from each provider, of which there are over 30. You’ll find games from NetEnt, Microgaming, ELK Studios, Play’n GO, Red Tiger, Thunderkick, Tom Horn, Pragmatic Play, Quickspin and several other here. That’s a great selection and you’ll get the latest games here as well.
There are only a handful of live casino tables, however, so if that’s your jam, you may find yourself a little disappointed here.
For those interesting in chasing big jackpots, the only real big one available here is the Mega Moolah jackpot, which is better than nothing. There are some smaller local jackpots as well and all the Red Tiger games with the Must Drop jackpots can be found here as well.
Promotions and bonuses
Under “Promos” you will find the currently available promotions at the Shangri La. There are two welcome offers new customers will be able to choose from. The Welcome Sports Bonus is a match bonus of 100% and up to INR 8,000. The minimum deposit to claim this one is INR 1,000. Turnover requirements include 10x wagering on odds of 1.9 or higher on single bets or 1.8 for system bets. Wagering must be met within 7 days and the maximum bonus win amount is capped at INR 3,500,000.
There are a few more bonus conditions to check out, so be sure to do that if you wish to claim this bonus. Overall, the terms are not unusually strict for a smaller betting site, though they are strict generally speaking.
The casino welcome bonus would give new customers INR 20,000 on their first three deposits each and 20 free spins on Starburst. The bonus amount must be wagered 35x, though there are only 7 days within which that must be done. The maximum bonus win amount is capped at INR 400,000.
To be sure, some of the terms are not only fair but also quite generous. The free spin winnings only need to be wagered once, for instance. But there are some restrictions that are difficult to adhere to, so you may not wish to claim the full bonus.
Beyond the welcome offers, the Shangri La Live currently also offers weekly cashback and bonus offers for the casino and sportsbook. It’s not much, but it could add a little extra incentive to make a fresh deposit and get some bonus funds or cash back.
If you want to know which payment methods the Shangri La Live accepts for deposits and withdrawals, you need to visit the help section. Under “Payments” you’ll find a table that lists all the payment options accepted here and also details whether it’s available for deposits and withdrawals or not.
You’ll find the usual range of options such as credit cards, e-Wallets and prepaid cards, but there are also various cryptocurrencies that the betting site accepts, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin. The classic bank transfer is also available.
Not listed are transaction times and limits here, which is a bit unfortunate. You will need to visit the terms and conditions to find out that there is a weekly withdrawal limit of $10,000 (or the currency equivalent).
On that note, it is important to mention that the Shangri La Live also imposes daily win limits. At the casino, there is a daily win limit of $250,000 with the exception of progressive jackpot wins. And at the sportsbook, the win limit is set at $50,000 (or the currency equivalent, of course).
The support at the Shangri La Live is available around the clock. You can reach the customer service via live chat, which is handily available via a little white icon with a speech bubble inside at the bottom right-hand corner of each page.
The other option is sending an email, for which there is a separate button that will then open up an email in your own email program. Just keep in mind that it may take a while to receive an answer.
That said, the help section is indeed quite helpful, providing some good information upfront.
The first impression when loading the Shangri La Live website is not exactly a good one. Big banners change place every few seconds on the homepage. It’s very colourful and it looks dated at best. Some may like this kind of look, but we prefer cleaner layouts, a more concise colour scheme and a more modern look. You don’t get that here.
The sportsbook is quite well organised, mind you, so it’s not difficult to navigate. And the menu is overall user-friendly enough to find your way around.
The mobile page looks much the same and is not a lot better or easier to use. It’ll do the job, of course, which is all you can ask for, especially as a more casual punter or gambler.
The site does offer a new mobile app now, which is handy for those who prefer to play or bet via app, though it appears to be only available for Android devices.
Overall, there is nothing inherently wrong with the Shangri La Live betting site. It’s trustworthy enough and we have no security or safety concerns here. A big company is behind the venture, and whilst we don’t get the most modern website, it is functional and usable for most punters and players.
The selection of sports to be on is varied and the most important betting options are available for cricket and beyond. Since we consider this a betting site for casual punters, you won’t find many markets here, just as you won’t find a huge number of casino games.
There are some bonuses to check out, which is always a nice addition, but they don’t offer a VIP or loyalty program at this time.
If this all appeals to you, you should definitely check the Shangri La Live out.
