Auckland Aces are the defending champions of the Ford Trophy. They will open their accounts against the Northern Knights in this match. A lot of the first-choice players from both teams may not be available as New Zealand is in the middle of an international series against India.
Martin Guptill has not been picked for the New Zealand squad and so he should be able to take the field for the Auckland Aces. That is a big advantage for the defending champions because Guptill is still capable of winning matches on his own.
George Worker and Adithya Ashok are two of the other batters to watch out for.
Among the bowlers, Kyle Jamieson, Will Somerville, and Louis Delport are the three big names. Jamieson, of course, can bat very well and clear the boundaries at will.
Ben Horne, Benjamin Lister, Adithya Ashok, Louis Delport, Ryan Harrison, Simon Keene, Danru Ferns, George Worker, Mark Chapman, Robert O'Donnell, William O'Donnell.
The Northern Knights also have a few missing players from their squad but they do not seem to be as badly affected as the Aces. Jeet Raval, Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Seifert, and Bharat Popli are all going to be in the playing eleven. We think that gives the Knights a very strong batting lineup.
Seifert, in particular, could be one of the players to watch out for.
The bowling lineup is also pretty stacked. We are not sure if Trent Boult will turn out for the Knights but he is a part of the squad. Neil Wagner, Tim Pringle, and Scott Juggeleijn are all in the running for a spot in the playing eleven as well.
All things considered, we think the Northern Knights hold the advantage on both the batting and the bowling fronts.
Brett Hampton, Bharat Popli, Katene Clarke, Kristian Clarke, Peter Drysdale, Tim Pringle, Henry Cooper, Jeet Raval, Neil Wagner, Scott Kuggeleijn, Tim Seifert.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first.

The conditions in Auckland are pretty wet and we could have a lot of interruptions. In fact, a complete washout of the fixture is also quite probable at this point. The pitch is expected to be flat with a bit of extra pace in it to keep the bowlers interested. The moisture in the air could also help the ball swing.
We are going to bet on the Northern Knights to win. They have more of their best batters available and their bowling lineup is quite strong as well.
