The Super Smash 2020-21 has split the teams into two parts with the Wellington Firebirds and Canterbury Kings in one half and everyone else in the other. This next match is going to be a bottom of the table clash between The Auckland Aces and the Northern Knights.
The Auckland Aces have lost all five of their matches so far while the northern Knights have won just one out of their six. Luckily for them, a couple of wins are all they need to catch up to the teams ahead of them.
Auckland Aces vs Northern Knights Super Smash 2020-21 is going to be played at the Eden Park Outer Oval, Auckland on the 17th of January 2021.
The return of Martin Guptill and Glenn Phillips to the Auckland team has not had the kind of effect that the Aces would be hoping for. They failed to chase down a smallish total in the previous match and continued their losing streak.
The batting has been a big concern and the Aces need their big guns to fire now.
Danru Ferns, Ross ter Braak, and Will Somerville did pretty well in the previous match but they need to be at their best to be able to compensate for the shortcomings of the batsmen.
The Aces will be happy playing in home conditions where the small boundaries could be the perfect platform for their big-hitters to return to form.
GD Phillips, Ben Horne, Martin Guptill, Robert O'Donnell, William O'Donnell, Sean Solia, Kyle Jamieson, Benjamin Lister, Ross Ter Braak, Louis Delport, William Somerville.
It really is a shame that a talented team like the Northern Knights continues to lose match after match. Jeet Raval, Tim Seifert, Anton Devcich, Mitch Santner, and Scott Kuggeleijn are five international quality players that can easily win the match on their own.
Unfortunately, this talented group of individuals has not been able to come together as they should have.
The bowlers have struggled to keep the runs down and have struggled for wickets while the batting just seems completely out of form.
That being said, the inherent quality in this team is not something that we would advise looking past. It just takes one knock for things to start falling in place.

The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Eden Park is notorious for some high-scoring matches and defending a total can be a nightmare. Also, some teams may end up falling away while batting first as they are always aiming too high.

There is some rain expected in Auckland on the day that the match is going to be played. Hopefully, it will be a short shower that misses the match completely or at least does not cause a very big delay.
The conditions at Eden Park are always in favor of the batsmen. The pitch is nice and fast with something in it for the bowlers but the short boundaries mean that even mis-hits go for sixes.
A total of around 180-200 should be seen as par batting first.
We think the Northern Knights are the team to back in this contest. They have a very good team with a lot of international quality in both batting and bowling. The Aces have a dangerous batting lineup but its bowling is quite poor.
Bet on the Northern Knights to win.
