Auckland Aces are gong to play their final group match against the Wellington Firebirds. This is a clash of the worst and the best teams of Super Smash 2020-21. There is nothing at stake for either side in this match. The Auckland Aces know that this is their last match of the season and even a consolation win is not going to mean much.
The Wellington Firebirds are already assured of a place in the Final and so whatever happens here, the big match is still to come.
Auckland Aces vs Wellington Firebirds Super Smash 2020-21 is going to be played at the Eden Park, Outer Oval on the 6th of February 2021.
The Aces won their previous match by a massive 103 runs. None of their batsmen got past 50 but most of them got a start and score at a goos strike-rate. This helped the team to get to a 180 plus total.
As things stand, the Auckland Aces batsmen batsmen have absolutely no pressure of expectation on them. They can come out and play freely.
Martin Guptill was not a part of the playing eleven in the previous match and it will be interesting to see if he comes back for this final match. He has been woefully out of form and may just want to sit out.
Glenn Phillips, mark Chapman, and William O’Donnell form a pretty decent batting lineup for the Aces.
Kyle Jamieson picked up three wickets for the Aces in the previous match and helped them put in one of their best bowing performances of the entire tournament. The Aces have struggled for any kind of control and would love to be able to put the squeeze on the Firebirds before exiting the tournament as well.
We would be wary of putting too much faith in their bowling, though.
Sean Solia, William O'Donnell, GD Phillips, Mark Chapman, Robert O'Donnell, Ben Horne, Kyle Jamieson, William Somerville, Danru Ferns, Louis Delport, Ross Ter Braak.
The Wellington Firebirds have this one match to tune things up or to rest some key players ahead of their final. We don’t think they should try to change too many things as losing a match before the final can dent the confidence a bit.
The Firebirds have a very strong batting lineup led by Finn Allen. He has been in brilliant form at the top of the order and would love to put in two more strong performances. It would not be a surprise to see his name in the squad for the T20 matches for New Zealand soon.
Devon Conway, Tom Blundelll, and Michael Bracewell round out the strong top-order.
Among the bowlers, Hamish bennett, Peter Younghusband, and Logan van Beek are the players to watch out for.
The Wellington Firebirds have shown an immense ability to fight back from tough positions and so more of the same can be expected in this match as well.
Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Tom Blundell, Troy Johnson, Michael Bracewell, James Neesham, Jamie Gibson, Logan van Beek, PY Husband, Hamish Bennett, Fraser Colson.
The team that wins the toss generally likes to chase at the Edne Park.

There is no rain predicted for match day and so we should be able to enjoy an uninterrupted match. The pitch is going to be good for batting and full of runs. If anything, we think the danger can be trying to get too many runs while batting.
A score of around 175-180 should be seen as par batting first.
We think the Wellington Firebirds are going to continue their winning run. They have the batting strength needed to win and their bowling attack is better than the Auckland Aces as well.
Bet on the Wellington Firebirds to win.
