ADH vs CM Match Prediction - Jan 06, 2022

Wellington Blaze Women cruised to their sixth straight win in the Women's Super Smash to climb to the top of the points table, leaving the middle of the points table a lot more interesting. Auckland Hearts Women and Canterbury Women are both striving hard to occupy that third spot on the ladder and will be looking to gather some momentum going forward.

Both these sides will be taking on each other in the upcoming contest of the tournament. It is an important match for both these sides in the context of the points table and we expect them both to come out hard at each other. The match between the two sides is to be played at Eden Park, Auckland.

Auckland Hearts Women

Auckland Hearts Women were one of the last sides to kick-off their campaign in the tournament, but have pretty quickly managed to come into the thick of things. They may be placed in the bottom of half of the points table, but they are in a pretty good position, as far as getting into the next round is concerned.

As it currently stands, Auckland Hearts are placed at the fourth spot on the ladder with two wins from five matches. Along with the eight points that they already have, they have a pretty poor net run rate of -0.423, which they would certainly want to improve given how crucial it can prove to be towards the end of the league stage. A win here will push them ahead of Canterbury Women, to the third spot, and that is exactly what they will be aiming for.

Auckland Hearts Women started off with a couple of consecutive wins - both over Northern Districts, but have looked off-color since then. They are coming into this match on the back of three consecutive losses and will be desperate to get back to the winning ways. It is not going to be easy and they will have to play out of their skins.

In the previous match, Auckland Hearts Women failed to match up the Otago Sparks Women as they failed to chase down a challenging total of 153. In all of the three matches that the Hearts have lost, batting has proven to be a major culprit for them and that could be a factor in this upcoming match as well.

On paper, Auckland Hearts Women have a very talented side, but they certainly do lack the experience. They are a bit too over-reliant on Holly Huddleston to contribute remarkably in both facets of the game, but she hasn't really had enough support from the rest of the players. As we move towards the business end of the tournament, the Hearts would be hoping for their youngsters to hit some form and if they are able to do that, Hearts could prove to be a challenging side to deal with for any side in this competition.

Canterbury Women

Canterbury Women have so far had an on and off kind of tournament and they would want to get some continuity coming into their performances. Coincidentally they have won their matches alternatively and they will be breaking that treat if they end up winning this upcoming contest. A win here will increase the gap between them and the team placed at the fourth spot on the ladder and that is exactly what they will be hoping for.

As it currently stands on the points table, Canterbury Women are placed at the third spot on the points table with three matches and three losses. Although they have 12 points to their name, they have a pretty poor net run rate of -0.574, which could prove to be a decisive factor going forward, especially with Auckland Hearts breathing right down their neck.

Coming off a win in their previous match, Canterbury Wome have the momentum and will want to convert that into results. Chasing a total of 112 in their previous match, their batting rolled up a terrific team effort to chase down the total with five wickets to spare. It was refreshing to see them chase that target down despite losing three important batsmen without many runs on the board as their middle-order batsmen showed the depth of their batting unit. However, the match was undoubtedly won in the first innings as their bowlers restricted Central Districts to a subpar total.

On paper, Canterbury Women have a terrific side with the experienced players available in Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu, who both can be match-winners on their days. If they get ample support from the youngsters in this upcoming match, Canterbury Women will be well in business.

ADH vs CM Toss Prediction

Chasing has been incredibly difficult in the tournament so far and almost all teams, regardless of their composition, have often been unsuccessful while chasing in the competition so far. Both captains will be wary of that and the conditions on offer on the match day. We expect the captain winning the toss to elect to bowl first.

Pitch and Conditions

We have rarely seen high-scoring matches in the tournament so far and this match too is expected to be a low-scoring affair. The surface is expected to have plenty in it for the fast bowlers and scoring quickly could be a challenge. A total of around 140 would be about par here and the team batting first would want to score 5-10 runs more than that.

ADH vs CM Betting Tips

With the third spot on the points table up for grabs, this match carries high importance for both these sides. The winner of this match will grab the third position for the time being and that could prove to be a consequential difference as far as progression to the next round is concerned. While Auckland Hearts have a talented side, they have not been amongst the wins of late. Canterbury Women, on the other hand, are coming off a big win and have a better-balanced side between the two. Considering that and the other factors stated above, it makes all the sense to bet on Canterbury Women to emerge on top in this upcoming encounter.

Amy Satterthwaite may not have been as consistent as her side would want to be in the tournament so far, but she is a class player. Her experience can come in handy in crunch situations and she will therefore hold the key in this upcoming contest. We expect her to be the top scorer for her side in this match against the Hearts.

Holly Huddleston has single-handedly carried Auckland Hearts in both departments of the game. Bowling is her stronger suite and we expect her to do well in that department. Considering that and the form she has been in, bet on her to pick up a least one wicket here in this match.
