ADS vs SYT Match Prediction - Dec 20, 2022

The Adelaide Strikers will be playing against Sydney Thunder for the second time in BBL 12. The previous time these two teams met, Sydney Thunder was bowled out for 15. Yes, that's right, 15. We are sure there would have been some scars left over from that defeat but in a way, such a bad performance can only be forgotten and moved on from.

The best cricket betting sites have the Adelaide Strikers as favorites but the odds being offered are better than what we expected. Let us take a closer look at the two teams and their performance in the Big Bash so far.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder BBL 2022-23. The match will be played at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on the 20th of December 2022.

ADS vs SYT Team Previews

Adelaide Strikers

The Adelaide Strikers are at the top of the BBL standings right now with two wins from two matches. They have an astonishing net run rate (thanks to their win against Sydney Thunder) that could come in handy as the fight for playoff places intensifies.

The addition of Chris Lynn to the batting lineup seems to be paying dividends for them right now and we also think picking Adam Hose as an overseas player is a smart choice. With Matt Short, Jake Weatherald, Colin de Grandhomme, and Thomas Kelly in the lineup, we would not say that the batting lineup is extremely strong.

Getting enough runs consistently could be a bit of a problem for this lineup.

The bowling attack for the Adelaide Strikers is very strong and in good form. Henry Thornton is the leading wicket-taker in BBL 12 right now with 9 scalps at an average of less than 3! He will be the main attacking weapon for the Strikers with Rashid Khan, Wes Agar, and Peter Siddle all in the lineup as well.

Current form, home advantage, and bowling firepower all point toward the Adelaide Strikers right now.

Jake Weatherald, Matt Short, Chris Lynn, Adam Hose, Colin de Grandhomme, Thomas Kelly, Harry Nielsen, Rashid Khan, Wes Agar, Henry Thornton, Peter Siddle.

Sydney Thunder

Sydney Thunder scored 174 in the previous match it played and seemed to have shaken off its 15 all-out disaster quite well. The team was well on its way to winning that contest before being thwarted by Aaron Finch. Still, we think that performance would have given Thunder some confidence and the team will be out for revenge in this match.

Alex Hales and Rille Rossouw are the two obvious big names in the batting lineup. Both players have a habit of scoring T20 centuries and also have great records in the BBL. A match-winning inning from either of them can not be ruled out. At the Adelaide Oval with its small square boundaries, we would back Hales or Rossouw to make a big score.

Jason Sangha is the inexperienced skipper of Sydney Thunder and also the most accomplished batter apart from the overseas players. On the bowling front, Thunder does not have the same kind of resources that the Strikers do but they still have some decent players.

Fazalhaq Farooqi, Chris Green, Gurinder Sandhu, and Daniel Sams will be keen to get some revenge and pick up a few early Strikers wickets of their own!

Pitch and Conditions

There is a little bit of rain in Adelaide but the conditions should ease out by the time the match starts. As far as the pitch goes, we expect an absolute batting paradise where the ball comes on nicely to the bat and the outfield is lightning quick.

A high-scoring venue, something around 170 should be seen as par.

ADS vs SYT Betting Tips

Sydney Thunder has not shown us what it is truly capable of so far and that is why it is the underdog. However, looking at the lineup we feel it is just a matter of time before Hales or Rossouw plays a big inning. The Adelaide Oval is a high-scoring venue where the Thunder batting lineup could get some revenge over the Strikers bowling attack that tormented it a few days back.

We like the odds on offer and are going to back Sydney Thunder in this contest.

Bet on Sydney Thunder to win.
