The Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder have had an excellent start to their Big Bash League 2019-20 campaigns. The Adelaide Strikers are unbeaten coming into this match and Sydney Thunder has lost just one game, that too in a Super-Over.
Neither of the two sides was considered among the stronger ones at the start BBL 09 but they have managed to find ways to keep winning from tough positions. It took a magical spell from Rashid Khan to win Adelaide Strikers the match against the Melbourne Renegades while Sydney Thunder has plenty of players that are performing above expectations as well.
This contest between the two is going to be very interesting indeed.
Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder BBL 09 is going to be played at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on the 31st of December 2019.
The Adelaide Strikers have continued to perform brilliantly despite having one of the shortest batting lineups in the entire Big Bash League. Rashid Khan has been batting at number five for the Adelaide Strikers even though Cameron White is in the side as well.
Philip Salt finally scored some runs while Alex Carey and Jonathan Wells continued their good form as well. The Adelaide Strikers do not have a very strong batting lineup but they have been able to get to a good total in almost every single match.
The Adelaide Oval is a very good batting surface and the batting lineup will be hoping to perform once again. The last time the Strikers played here, Jake Weatherald nearly scored a century and left everyone breathless at the ferocity of his inning.
Rashid Khan has been the standout bowler for Adelaide Strikers. He keeps the runs tight and picks up important wickets in every match. There have been more than a couple of occasions in BBL 09 already where Rashid Khan has come in and changed the match for the Adelaide Strikers.
With Wes Agar, Billy Stanlake, Peter Siddle, and Cameron Valente all bowling well, the Adelaide Strikers don’t really have any weak links in their bowling attack.
Philip Salt, Jake Weatherald, Matthew Short, Alex Carey, JW Wells, CL White, Cameron Valente, Rashid Khan, Peter Siddle, WA Agar, Billy Stanlake.
The previous match that Sydney Thunder played against the Sydney Sixers seemed to be all but won by Sydney Thunder before Tom Curran changed things around with some sustained brilliance. Now after having its unbeaten record ruined, Sydney Thunder has the chance to do the same against the Adelaide Strikers.
Quite like the Adelaide Strikers, Sydney Thunder has a strong bowling attack and a short batting lineup.
Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales are excellent players followed by the in-form Callum Ferguson but the lineup tapers off pretty quickly after that. Matthew Gilkes has not proven himself just yet, Alex Ross has been inconsistent, and Chris Morris has not shown us what he is capable of with the bat either.
A few early wickets are going to test Sydney Thunder, which is something that might happen against a strong Adelaide Strikers bowling attack.
The key to winning this match for Sydney Thunder is going to be to bank on its bowling attack. Chris Green, Arjun Nair, and Jonathan Cook have formed a successful spin attack for Sydney Thunder. They bowl at different times and have very different styles, thus don’t give the bowlers any time to settle.
Daniel Sams, Chris Tremain, and Chris Morris provide the fast-bowling options.
Chris Green has an economy rate of just 6.56 in BBL 09 while Daniel Sams is just one wicket behind the league leader for most-wickets. There is a lot of depth in the bowling attack and we have no doubt Sydney Thunder is going to target the Adelaide Strikers batting weaknesses.

The team that wins the toss may want to bat first.

There is no rain expected in Adelaide on match day although a few harmless clouds may be floating around. The pitch in Adelaide is brilliant for batting. There has been only one match played there in BBL 09 where close to 400 runs were scored in 36 overs.
The ball comes on to the bat very nicely and the short square boundaries provide plenty of opportunities for six-hitting as well.
Dream11 Tips and Dream11 Prediction for Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder
The Adelaide Strikers are on a roll and have been traditionally very tough to stop at the Adelaide Oval. Their batting is a bit shallow but so is Sydney Thunder’s. Both teams are likely to have similar game-plans heading into this match.
We think the Adelaide Strikers should be able to win this match thanks to a slightly superior bowling lineup and better knowledge of the conditions.
Bet on the Adelaide Strikers to win.
