The Adelaide Strikers won a very important match against the Hobart Hurricanes in their previous outing. They are now going to go up against the Melbourne Renegades in an effort to break into the top-4. It looks like the fight for the final couple of WBBL playoff positions is going to be very tight and so every win is going to be crucial from here on in.
The Melbourne Renegades, unfortunately, are no longer in this discussion. With just two wins to its name, it has already been knocked out of contention for a playoff spot.
Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney on the 18th of November 2020.
The Adelaide Strikers were in trouble at 65 for 5 against the Hobart Hurricanes in their previous match. That was when Madeline Penna came into bat and smashed 56 from just 33 deliveries to get the Strikers to a defendable total.
We do not think the Strikers will want a repeat of that performance. Individual brilliance is good but not a sign of a dependable, consistent team. The senior batters like Laura Wolvaadt, Katie Mack, and Tahlia McGrath need to find form at this crucial juncture in the tournament. This match against the Meblourne Renegades may be the perfect time for the batters to spend some time in the middle and make a statement.
Their bowling is in better sprits after two excellent performances. Megan Schutt bowled her second consecutive match in which she have away less than ten runs. Darcie Brown, Tahlia McGrath, and Sarah Coyte also continued to take wickets.
The Strikers are a better team than the Melbourne Renegades but they must avoid a batting collapse at all costs.
T McGrath, Katie Mack, Laura Wolvaardt, B Patterson, Stafanie Taylor, Amanda Wellington, Maddie Penna, T McPharlin, S Coyte, Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown.
The Renegades have been terrible in WBBL 2020 and that is why they just have two wins to their name. There is nothing much to play for now and they may opt to make more changes in the team composition as well as the batting order.
Finding some new talent for the years to come has to be a priority at this point in time.
The Renegades have been making changes in every match already and so there is no reason to suspect why they would be shy of making them now.
The batting has been very poor and senior players like Lizelle Lee, Any Satterthwaite, and Sophie Molineux have been too inconsistent. Carly Leeson showed some promise but she has been shunted down the order after a couple of failures at the top as well.
Molly Strano, Lea Tahuhu, and Sophie Molineux lead a decent bowling attack. This bowling attack was supposed to be the one that got the Renegades its wins but that has not happened either.
The immediate future looks a bit bleak for the Melbourne Renegades.
Lizelle Lee, Sophie Molineux, Josie Dooley, Amy Satterthwaite, Courtney Webb, Carly Leeson, Amy Yates, Molly Strano, Makinley Blows, Ella Hayward, Lea Tahuhu.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Defending an average total gives you a better chance of winning than chasing an average total in the WBBL.

The Sydney Showground Stadium has a good surface for batting and a quick outfield. This could play into the hands of the Adelaide Strikers. We think a score of somewhere around 130 can be seen pas par at this venue.
The Melbourne Renegades have won two matches so far, both big upsets, but there is just nothing to suggest that will happen again. It could but that would require a poor effort from the Adelaide Strikers rather than a special effort from the Renegades. At this stage in the tournament, we think the Adelaide Strikers are going to pounce on the chance to get another win under its belt.
Bet on the Adelaide Strikers to win.
