ADSW vs MLSW Match Prediction - Nov 02, 2022

The Strikers are absolutely rolling at the moment by winning four straight games. The Sixers and Scorchers better watch out, as the third-placed Strikers from Adelaide are coming for the No. 1 spot on the WBBL ladder.

The Stars (there are so many teams starting with “S”) have had some bad luck lately, as two of their last three games have been cancelled due to rain. This type of occurrence really hurts momentum, although the Stars did surprise everyone with a big win over the Renegades and now have the sixth spot in the league.

Adelaide Strikers Women

The Strikers have been firing on all cylinders lately, especially after knocking off the Heat and Scorchers – arguably two of the top teams in the WBBL.

The Strikers must be glad of the win over Perth, as it was the Scorchers who defeated them during last year’s WBBL final. Revenge is a dish best served cold, but let’s see Adelaide try to replicate this type of performance in this year’s final.

Adelaide have been playing incredibly well with both the bat and ball, and it was certainly the bowlers that helped the Strikers take down the Scorchers. Darcie Brown (2/18) and Amanda-Jade Wellington (2/13) really helped put the pressure on Perth’s batters and managed to keep the score pretty low for a Big Bash game at 111.

Adelaide’s batters did their job, too, as we were hugely impressed with the performances of Katie Mack (47* from 51 deliveries) and Madeline Penna (32 from 23 deliveries). Perth certainly had a chance when three top-order batters were dispatched for a total of seven runs), but the determination of Mack and Penna kept Adelaide in charge.

Mack has already made 160 runs this season and sits in 5th place in Total Runs Scored, while Darcie Brown and Amanda-Jade Wellington are fourth and fifth, respectively, for Total Wickets Taken with 11.

Melbourne Stars Women

The Stars must feel a bit out of rhythm, as two games (weirdly both against the Sydney Thunder) were started but eventually cancelled due to bad weather). Despite this, a convincing win over Melbourne rivals, the Renegades, has boosted their confidence and given them new life in the league.

Allrounder Sophie Day hasn’t impressed much with the bat so far, but she did make headlines with her fantastic bowling attack against the Renegades, taking 4/19. This is great news for the Stars, as alongside Annabel Sutherland (who also had great bowling with 3/17) and Kim Garth, the squad finally has the means to trouble opposing batters.

With the bat, Sutherland did it again by making 42* against the Renegades, and while the total score of 92 isn’t much to be excited about, she still kept the team in a firm spot to win the match.

It’s been a while since Lauren Winfield-Hill has done something amazing with her batting, as her last game of any note was making 20 runs, but that was five matches ago. She’s been a bit unreliable, but she must be due for a big game soon. Knowing that Alice Capsey and Sutherland aren’t far behind in the order is good news for Stars fans.

Pitch and Conditions

The ground is a bit smaller than other venues, and the pitch never gets too bouncy, so expect this to be a batting wicket.

ADSW vs MLSW Betting Tips

The Stars will have to fight hard to beat a tough squad like the Strikers, but it is possible.

Winfield-Hill and Sutherland must ideally both have half centuries, but the Stars bowlers will need to keep the Strikers’ score around 100 if there is any chance of victory.

The odds for choosing the Stars are worth it, as here’s a team desperate for a chance to prove themselves, especially as so many games have been disrupted by bad weather. The Stars have beaten the Strikers in the last two matches, so they’ll need to repeat this type of fantastic performance.

Bet on the Stars to win.
