The WBBL finals 2019 are here and there is a lot to look forward to. The Sydney Sixers are not going to be in the finals this season and so we probably have the most open field in a long time. The first semi-final is going to be played between the Adelaide Strikers Women and the Perth Scorchers Women.
They finished second and third respectively in WBBL 05 after the group stages but the gulf between them appears to be a lot bigger. Meg Lanning is going to feel the pressure of leading from the front to try and stop the star-studded Strikers unit.

Adelaide Strikers Women
The Adelaide Strikers go into this match as firm favorites. They are led by Sophie Devine who is having the tournament of her dreams. She has 699 runs to her name, the most for any player this season, and has also taken 17 wickets as well.
She was named as the player of the tournament after the end of the WBBL 05 group stage and now has a chance to lead her side to a title. Devine needs to avoid being overconfident, though, because there are no rooms for any slip-ups in this contest.
There are a number of other strong batters in the Adelaide Strikers side. Suzie Bates, Tahlia McGrath, Bridget Patterson, Tahlia McGrath, Lauren Winfield, and Amanda Wellington are all dangerous with the bat.
This gives the Adelaide Strikers women a lot more batting depth than the Perth Scorchers Women in this contest.
Leading the bowling attack is going to be Megan Schutt, who is the top-ranked T20 bowler in women’s cricket. She has had some success against Meg Lanning this season and has called her out before the match.
Sophie Devine, Sarah Coyte, and Tahlia McGrath all contribute towards a fine bowing unit.
The Adelaide Strikers women have all their bases covered and come into this match with six wins in their previous seven matches. It is going to be hard to stop them.

The Perth Scorchers women were up against a difficult task even when they were at full-strength but it is a real mountain to climb now that Amy Ellen Jones and Nate Sciver are not available for this match. Meg Lanning is the highest run-scorer for the Perth Scorchers this season but Jones and Sciver were the next on that list.
A major part of the Perth Scorchers batting strength is going to be missing for this semi-final.
The Perth Scorchers have been preparing for this and did not play the two Englishwomen in the previous two matches. Nicole Bolton has been asked to open the inning, something that she enjoys doing, and Georgia Redmayne has taken over the wicketkeeping duties.
There is some talent in the side, no doubt, but the onus is going to be on Meg Lanning to try and make up for the missing pieces. She scored a century in the previous game she played and is in excellent touch. She is the third-highest run-scorer for the Scorchers so far and the fate of the game could rest on her shoulders.
The Perth Scorchers are also not very well stocked in the bowling department. Their attack is considered to be one of the weakest in WBBL 05 and that is not a good thing while going up against the Adelaide Strikers.
Kim Garth, Heather Graham, and Nicole Bolton will be taking the lead in the bowling department for this match.
The Perth Scorchers would be hoping for a return to form for Heather Graham, who was one of the best domestic players of last year’s season but has struggled to replicate that in WBBL 05.

Pitch and Conditions
The weather is expected to be bright and sunny on match day so we should have an excellent day of cricket to look forward to. The scores at Allan Border Field have been pretty high and both teams ended up scoring over 180 in the last match held there.
