ADSW vs SYDW Match Prediction - Oct 15, 2022

What a start for the Sydney Sixers! Led by captain Ellyse Perry’s courageous 55 runs from 48 deliveries, the Sixers were able to kick off the new WBBL season with a victory over the Brisbane Heat.

The Adelaide Strikers are yet to play a game, but we’re sure they’re eager to prove themselves in the upcoming season with a stellar roster.

Adelaide Strikers Women

Adelaide was so close to winning last year’s WBBL final, only to be thwarted by the Perth Scorchers.

So, it’s clear that the Strikers are out for revenge this season. And how can you achieve that? Well, by signing two of the biggest names in women’s cricket: South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt and West Indies’ all-rounder Deandra Dottin.

Those are two players that instantly make a difference on the roster. We’re more than excited to see Deandra Dottin play in the Aussie league and dazzle the crowds with her fantastic batting skills. Dottin has picked up a whopping 2,697 runs in 127 matches played, with an average of 26.68 and a high score of 112*.

Although losing experienced pace bowler Sarah Coyte to the Renegades is a minor sting, the Strikers’ squad is nevertheless bolstered by Zimbabwean all-rounder Anesu Mushangwe. Of course, the immensely talented leg spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington returns to the squad.

Sydney Sixers Women

It would be fair to say that everyone predicted the Heat to defeat the Sixers in the opening game of the season. But in a testament to Sydney’s “never say die” attitude, the plucky team managed to pull out a stunning victory at the last second.

It’s difficult to say who had a more impactful game: Ellyse Perry or Maitlan Brown. Perry’s 55 runs helped the Sixers pull closer to the Heat’s total of 141, especially since Sydney’s opening batters didn’t help at all. Perry was also amazing with the ball by taking 2/27 in four overs (solid ER of 6.75).

On the other hand, it was Brown who saved the day by scoring a game-winning six on the penultimate delivery of the match. The Sixers needed five runs from only two balls remaining, but instead of playing it safe, Brown threw caution to the wind and practically knocked the ball out of the stadium for the victory.

Brown was an absolute wizard with the ball, too, picking up 3/20 in only three overs (ER of 6.67), so it’s hard to deny her massive impact on the game.

The Sixers head into this next battle with the Strikers absolutely full of confidence and look like a major threat in any contest.

ADSW vs SYDW Betting Tips

The late-game heroics from the Sixers were great, but it was a close call and very nearly ended in a loss.

The Strikers are last season’s runner-up, and this has got to irk them considerably. The addition of Wolvaardt and Dottin to any already-solid squad really makes the Strikers look more lethal than ever.

There’s a great emphasis on a balanced lineup that can bat and bowl as good as any team.

Bet on Adelaide to win.
