It's been a while since ICC Cricket World Cup U19 started and after multiple ebbs and flows, the points tables look more or less settled. We already have at least a few quarter-finalists confirmed and the competition now remains for the few remaining slots.
Group C still looks tightly packed with Afghanistan U19 and Zimbabwe U19 still pretty much in the hunt to qualify for the next round. Up next in the tournament, Afghanistan U-19 are set to take on Zimbabwe U-19 in what will be a virtual pre-quarterfinal between these two sides. With Pakistan in already, the winner of this match will likely be the second team to progress into the next round. Given the stakes involved, we expect both sides to come out all guns blazing and a cracker of a contest is certainly on the cards.
Afghanistan U-19 came into the tournament with a decent chance to qualify for the next round and they haven't really disappointed up until now. Yes, their recent loss to Pakistan U-19 was not something that their fans would have enjoyed, but a win here in this upcoming match will certainly bring things back on track for them.
As it currently stands on the points table, Afghanistan U-19 are placed at the third spot with one win in two matches. Only because of their slightly inferior net run rate of 1.110 as compared to that of Zimbabwe U-19, are Afghanistan U-19 placed at the third spot. Regardless of the result in this upcoming match, the net run rate is going to be inconsequential.
On paper, Afghanistan have a decent side, but the way they have executed their plans has certainly raised some eyebrows. They were at one stage in a decent position to topple Pakistan in their last match but lost too many wickets too soon. They eventually ended up losing the match by a not-so-big margin.
All in all, Afghanistan are a bowling heavy side and their bowlers have not disappointed up until now. Their batting, however, needs to do better and if that happens in this upcoming match, Afghanistan U-19 will be a very difficult side to contend with.

Just like Afghanistan U-19, Zimbabwe U-19 are in a must-win situation and need to win this match to progress to the next round. They are coming into this match on the back of a massive loss at the hands of Pakistan U-19 and will be desperate to get back to the winning ways. They exhibited the terrific amount of talent they have against Papua New Guinea and will want to replicate that kind of performance.
Currently, on the points table, Zimbabwe U-19 are placed at the second spot on the ladder with two points in two matches. Although a win here won't really change their position, it would ascertain Zimbabwe a playoff spot and that is exactly what they will be after.
On paper, Zimbabwe have a pretty good side that has done well in both departments of the game up until now. Batting is undoubtedly their primary strength and will want to pull themselves up with the ball. Their limitations with the ball were well exposed by Pakistan U-19 and it would be important for Zimbabweans to not to make those same mistakes again. All in all, with the side that they have, Zimbabwe will always be a threat. However, their bowlers would need to step up their game in this upcoming match and if they are able to do that, their road to the quarter-final should be clear.

With a quarter-final spot at stake, the importance of this match cannot be overstated. Both sides are equally in the hunt and this is expected to be a mouth-watering contest. It will be more of a contest between Afghanistan's bowling and Zimbabwe's batting, although the other suits will have to do well too. Given what we have seen of late, Afghanistan have a more compact side that has been a little more consistent. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, were a bit iffy in both departments in their match against Pakistan. For that reason and the other factors stated above, Afghanistan U-19 are firm favorites to register a win here and cruise to the next round.
