AFG vs BAN Match Prediction - Oct 17, 2022

After a long anticipation, we finally have ICC World T20 - Australia underway and it couldn't have gotten off to a better start. In the first match of the competition, Namibia romped past Sri Lanka to produce a result that was not anticipated by the majority. That win for Namibia has set some standards and the upcoming contests are all anticipated to be mighty exciting.

Alongside the Group games, we also have the warm-up games happening and those can give us a bit of cue on what it's going to be like in the actual matches. Afghanistan are set to take on Bangladesh in one of the warm-up fixtures in a match where the focus would be more to get the combinations right. The match between the two sides is to be played on Allan Border Field, Brisbane on 17th October 2022.

AFG vs BAN Team Previews

Afghanistan

Afghanistan have been excellent in recent times and we saw them do particularly well in the recently concluded Asia Cup as well. Although, they have not been able to convert those wins to a tournament win, they can be a handful against even the best in the business. This warm-up match will give them a chance to test their squad before meeting the more potent sides in the main event. We expect them to build on from where they left in the Asia Cup.

With players like Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Mohammad Nabi available to bowl, Afghanistan are well and truly rich in the bowling stocks. Furthermore, the addition of Fazal Farooqui has added to their strength with the ball. Together, they all proved to be handful in the Asia Cup and the conditions in Australia should suit them even more.

With the bat, however, Afghanistan have a little fragile top-order. While the opening pair of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai can be as explosive as any, consistency is something they haven't really managed, of late. Having said that, their deep batting line-up is certainly a positive in that aspect. All in all, Afghanistan have a decent side and if they are able to play to their potential, Bangladesh should find it pretty difficult.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh have been around in International Cricket from quite some time but they haven't really been able to make a mark in any of the tournaments. They have done well in silos but a string of wins is what has eluded them from long. They will be targeting that this competition and the warm-up will be very useful to get their playing eleven right. They have experience and skill available and if they can utilise to its maximum, Bangladesh would be a tough team to take on.

Bangladesh may be having a very experienced side at their disposal, they definitely haven't played like one in recent times. Their batting order has been too fragile in crunch situations and we saw them crumble in the Asia Cup as well. With the ball though, they have plenty of options available - be it with the pace or with the spin.

Bangladesh have pretty much never had the problem of skill when it comes to performing at international cricket. It's the temperament that they have struggled with and will want to get that right here. If they are able to perform to what they look like they are capable of, they could be a tough side to get past even for the best teams in the competition.

AFG vs BAN Betting Tips

It may not be important contest from tournament's point of view, both sides will likely want to use it to the fullest. A win here could very much impart the momentum that can be a difference in the main event. Considering the squad of the two sides and their recent form, we would be placing our money on an Afghanistan win and so should you.
