Afghanistan

It's not even a decade since Afghanistan's cricket team has gained mainstream recognition, but the way they are performing is commendable. They now have most of their players playing across the world in different competitions and that has helped them gain plenty of experience. Their experience and confidence were apparent in the first two matches of the series as well as Afghanistan kept their cool in the crucial junctures of the game and are consequently 2-0 ahead in the series.

In the first match, Afghanistan rode on the fantastic performance of their bowlers as they defended an about-par score of 287. The bright part of their bowling performance was that there weren't just one or two bowlers doing the job. As many as five bowlers found success with almost everyone being equally impressive. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was, in particular, the pick of the bowlers and he did equally well, if not better, in the subsequent match. Bowlers have so far played a vital role in both the wins and the Afghans would want to keep it that way. They have a bowling lineup that suits the conditions on offer and it is one of the major advantages they have had in this series.

With the bat as well, we have seen almost everyone stepping up for the Afghans. It was a brilliant innings by Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the first match and then Rahman Shah played a fantastic knock to guide his team home in the second match. With the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Najibullah Zadran, and Rashid Khan available to bat in the lower middle-order, the Afghans have a batting lineup that goes deep. Not only that, they are very capable of adjusting to the scoring rate and take risks when the situation demands so.

All in all, Afghanistan are an extremely well-balanced side that can deal with even the best in the business. They've had home-like conditions help them, but that is on top of the excellent skills that the players have showcased. If they can keep putting up similar performances, beating Afghanistan is going to take a colossal effort.

Ireland

It's been a while since Ireland announced themselves to the international cricket and while they've made a tremendous amount of progress thereafter, their progress has been pretty gradual. They have thrived at home, but haven't enjoyed the same success when playing in unknown conditions. The same has been the case in this series as well.

At the beginning of this tour, they were defeated by the United Arab Emirates but bounced back quickly with a win. Adapting to the conditions quickly helped them against UAE, but they haven't really looked at their best against the Afghans. While the likes of Paul Stirling, Curtis Campher, and Lorcan Tucker have looked good with the bat, they have lacked runs at the top of the order. The form of Andrew Balbirnie and Kevin O' Brien is certainly a cause of concern and they would want to get it right in the third ODI.

Ireland have largely been hit or miss with the ball. Andy McBrine did a terrific job in the first match, picking up five wickets for 23, but other than that it was all bland. None of their bowlers stepped up to bowl in tight channels, let alone pick wickets. It was a similar story in the second match as well wherein their bowlers managed to pick up just three wickets in total. Besides, almost all of their bowlers conceded runs at a rapid rate.

Considering how things have gone for the men in green so far, they have a lot to improve at. The good thing is that they have experienced available in the bank and can utilize that. With the surface getting slower, they would need their bowlers to play a bigger role than they have done in the two matches gone so far. If that happens, Ireland will end their tour on a happy note.

AFG vs IRE Betting Tips

We have seen this series go in one direction, but it all can change in a matter of one day. Both sides have some terrific players available at their respective disposal and all it takes is one good knock or spell to turn things around. Considering how things have gone so far and the two teams on paper, Ireland seem to be at a slight disadvantage. Their bowlers haven't really adapted to the conditions and are giving away runs rather cheaply. Afghanistan, on the contrary, have done a terrific job in both departments of the game. With a bowling attack suited to prevail on turning tracks, Afghanistan certainly have an advantage there. Considering that and the other reasons mentioned above, placing your money on an Afghanistan win should be the way to go in the third ODI of the series.
