The second T20I between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe ended in a similar result as did the first match. The on-paper difference between the two sides was apparent before the series started and that has reflected on the field as well. Afghanistan now have an unassailable lead in the series and will be under a lot less pressure in the third and final match. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, will be desperate to register a consolation win before heading home. The third match of the series is to be played at Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on Saturday 20th March 2021.
Afghanistan couldn't have asked for better consistency than they have shown in this series. The margin of their two wins was more or less the same in both of their matches. Both of their wins followed the same template and most importantly, both of those came in after setting the total.
Once again, Afghanistan's game was set up by their batsmen at the top. It wasn't Rahmanullah Gurbaz's scintillating knock this time, but Karim Janat's measured knock propelled Afghanistan to a position from where they can launch a late assault. Mohammad Nabi's experienced prove to be pretty useful as he punished Zimbabwe's bowlers to take Afghanistan to a towering total.
Afghanistan's bowling has always been their strength and chasing a total of 193 was always going to be difficult against the likes of Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi. It didn't happen to be any different either as Afghanistan won the match by 45 runs. On paper, Afghanistan have a terrific side and they have shown that in the two matches. They have done well despite missing a few of their key players and it will be interesting to see how they fare in the upcoming match.

Given the way they've performed in the two matches, Zimbabwe will be pretty disappointed. As was the case in the first match, they were in business at one point in time but allowed the match to slip through their grip. The pressure got them at the end of the first innings and that eventually made the difference between the two sides.
While Zimbabwe have a decent team on paper, the loss of four quick wickets in the powerplay really hurt their chances. Sean Williams' presence in the middle could have made the difference, but he got out too early to make any dent in Afghanistan's plans. Their batsmen did put up a bit of fight towards the end of the innings, but it was too little too late.
All in all, Zimbabwe have a decent team on paper, but they have lacked execution big time. The absence of Brendan Taylor in the middle hasn't really helped their cause. Dealing with Rashid Khan would be a crucial factor for Zimbabwe to do well in the upcoming match and if they can negotiate him and the other spinners safely, Zimbabwe will be in business.

Zimbabwe have so far punched a lot less than they are capable of. They have struggled to cease the important moments and that has arguably been the difference between the two sides. Afghanistan, on the other hand, have been brilliant and have been flawless. These couple of wins would have imbibed a whole lot of confidence and that is going to be important not only in the upcoming match but also in the T20 World Cup later this year. We believe that their confidence and momentum will play a key role in the upcoming match as well and we are backing Afghanistan to register yet another win and seal the series 3-0.
