AUS vs ENG Match Prediction - Nov 19, 2022

Australia absolutely crushed England in the first ODI and the eventual victory could have been even more comprehensive but for Dawid Malan's brilliance. England looked a bit flat with the ball and Australia's batting was a lot more comfortable in the 50-over format.

Will the series be decided in Sydney or will England be able to stage a comeback?

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Australia vs England 1st ODI 2022. The match will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney on the 19th of November 2022.

AUS vs ENG Team Previews

Australia

Australia picked up early wickets thanks to some very impressive bowling by Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc also managed to impress. Adam Zampa bowled intelligently with three wickets including the big one of Jos Buttler. We think Australia's bowling is not at its best just yet, though.

Cummins and Starc were impressive with the new ball but gave away runs toward the end. Also, Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis can be attacked quite easily. Ashton Agar is not really a wicket-taker and he is also a bowler that can be put under pressure.

Australia allowed England to reach 287 after having them 118 for 5. The Australian bowling lineup is in decline and that seems to be showing. The batting lineup did quite well for Australia as almost all the batters scored runs.

Fifties for Warner, Head, and Smith ensured that 287 was chased down with ease. There are batting options till number 8 and so Australia cannot be counted out in that regard but we do think they will be more vulnerable batting first because of their sedate approach.

Australia Playing 11

Warner, Head, Smith, Labuschagne, Carey, Marsh, Stoinis, Agar, Starc, Zampa, Hazlewood.

England

England's bowling attack looked pedestrian in the previous match. There was no swing on offer and so bowlers like David Willey and Luke Wood were ineffective. No one apart from Olly Stone has that little bit of extra pace with which to trouble the batters.

England also decided to rest some of its players that did so well in the T20 World Cup and that experimentation may continue. With a bowling attack that is average at best, England will need its batting to fire. Dawid Malan proved once more why he is ranked so high in white-ball cricket with a magnificent century in the previous match but no one else contributed.

Phil Salt and Jos Buttler looked good before getting out and we think they could score runs in this second match. The lack of runs from Jason Roy continues to be a problem and Sam Billings needs some runs as well.

The inherent danger and power of the England batting lineup is clear but they do not have much margin of error with their bowling unit a bit lackluster.

England Playing 11

Philip Salt, Roy, Malan, Vince, Billings, Ali, Woakes, Curran, Dawson, Willey, Rashid.

AUS vs ENG Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. Historically, the teams batting first have had an advantage at the SCG (91-63).

Pitch and Conditions

The weather forecast for match day is quite good and we should not have any trouble getting a full game. The pitch at the SCG is generally quite good for batting but it can slow down as the match progresses. A bit of help for the spinners is also expected. We could see players like Zampa play a big role.

AUS vs ENG Betting Tips

We are going to back Australia to win this match. It's bowling looked better than England and while we think there are some weaknesses in both teams, England seems to be in an experimental mode and may not play its best possible eleven. This and the fact that Australia's senior batters are very comfortable in the 50-over format gives the home team the advantage.

Bet on Australia to win.
